Unfortunately the UD4 alarm is a legal requirement for GCC countries. The dealership will not be able to remove it unless they have a calibration for a US spec or other non-GCC car. It should not limit your speed but simply put a warning on the display that you are exceeding 120 K/h.

i know its the law here

but the law says there should be a warning ,, but not a permanent one
the problem is i cant do anything with the DIC unless i slow down
i cannot check the range, tire pressure and oil temperature
dont get me wrong here .,,, i dont want the warning to be permenantly gone
i just want to access the DIC after 120km/h

all other manufacturers have this but they are dismissible
but not GM
Only GM has this problem
i have the same problem with my cts-v

How about we try a different approach. You asked for information, I provided it. I didn't put the code in your car, I didn't have anything to do with your country requiring it, for that you'll need to take it up with your politicians and leaders. It should be listed on your RPO decal on your glove box door. You knew about it on the CTS-V (and apparently still have it) so I would suppose it wasn't much of a surprise when it appeared on your Corvette. I'm guessing you probably should have tried to find a US specification Corvette and imported it. I suspect that they felt you shouldn't be playing with your DIC after 75 miles per hour.

I'm done here. I won't bother your threads again.

i didn't mean to offend you in any way
put your self in my spot here
its a simple law but GM made it annoying
gm should fix this
if this is unsolvable by normal people thanks for letting me know
shutting the door is not an answer im going to accept
maybe some one out there could fix this other than the dealer
there is always hope

P.S : i have 3 problems with importing a car from the US

1- no warranty
2- i cant import a new car it has to be used (to protect the dealers here)
3- GCC specs have more equipment, bigger radiator/condenser and in my caddy diff cooler standard for the harsh weathers here (it goes up to 135 F today was 117 F)

they plugged the car in there computer using something called MDI <-- not sure about the name but i am sure its not the tech 2

i played with it left and right to no prevail
basically they told me they need a new calibration file from GM that doesn't include the UD4 code

how can i get my hands on that file ?!?!?

here is the RPO code List
http://www.marshu.com/images-website...-car-codes.pdf

scroll down to page 88

you will find the UD4 code
UD4 : ALARM, VEHICLE SPEED, 120 K/H

all i can say is *****
I bought a Canadian C5... I was fine with the instrument cluster being different but I could not stand the headlights popping up in broad daylight just because I was under an overpass, in the shade, etc. The car had the "twilight sentinel" option that is driver controlled for U.S cars but automatic on Canadian cars..no way to turn it off. After some searching on the C5 forums I found that the Tech11 could tell the computer in my Canadian car that it didn't have "twilight sentinel". I worked at a GM dealership...took them the directions on how to delete that option.....problem solved. I'm betting the same thing would work on a C6.

BTW I checked with the dealership to see if there was a fix for the problem.....they weren't aware that you could go in and delete the option.

That sucks. If the computer is programmed that way per your governments requirements good luck getting it reprogrammed. You are not talking just a warning reset but reprogramming the code.

Curious, if you get this warning at 75, or 120 km/h what is the speed limit there?

city ring roads go up to 120km/h - 75 mph
high ways (between city's) go to 130km/h - 81 mph

The MDI is the replacement for the Tech 2. The Tech 2 is a self-contained portable computer and very expensive. The MDI is actually just an interface between the diagnostic port and a network connection (ethernet and 802.11 wireless) that allows a any PC compatible computer to access the cars computers. The new diagnostic software runs on PC's (Windows) and requires internet access. The new PC diag software also can download computer updates (flashes) to USB sticks that can be used to update the computers in the car. Updates via the ODBII port can take a very long time because it is relatively low speed compared to USB. Flashes that took an hour to download to the car, can now be done in minutes via USB.

The Tech 2 has been cloned and anybody can get one. The new PC diag software requires a login to GM in order to work, so GM can more easily restrict access to authorized GM dealers and their technicians. The Tech 2 is still supported, but I'm sure it's days are numbered.
