LEO is serious this weekend
We went to Columbus yesterday, about 35 miles east on I70. The LEO count:
8 highway patrol cars
4 county sheriffs
2 Columbus police cars
2 Columbus motorcycle officers
We saw 6 stops in progress. Needless to say, traffic was moving smoothly at 67MPH, trucks, cars and my corvette. This is not a weekend to play around!
BTW. For those familiar with this stretch of highway, there is a 5 mile section just west of the city with a different road surface. Car tires sing loudly, truck tires howl, and GY Gen2’s produce a deafening shriek. With the top down, it actually hurt my ears. Just an observation.

All major holiday weekends have a big increase in patrol presence, the holidays are known as MEP or maximum enforcement presence, this is pretty standard across the country. Lots of drunks out this weekend too so be careful.

For those who don't know Ohio is one of the worst states for freeway patrols. On a holiday weekend they are wall to wall. I live just across the state line in West Virginia and I don't travel Ohio unless I have to. The Ohio Highway Patrol take their job (revenue enhancement) VERY. VERY serious.

What is the big deal..............just do the speed limit or less. I try never to give them a reason to stop me.......seems to work!

If you are planning on having a few martinis and then going out for a spin...probably not the best weekend for that. But if you are just going for a drive, what does it matter if every other car is a LEO....

On my return from city (Dallas) last evening I counted 5 Texas HP's and three were writing tickets (central expressway).....hot weather + three day weekend = lots of drunks and Leo's in force......don't play this weekend!!!

With the number of people that think the 4th of July holiday is a license to drink and drive (highways as well as waterways)- I'll let them have at it on traffic and DUI enforcement.
From my days in Columbus, I'm guessing the drunks heading to and from Buckeye Lake just east of town will keep OSP busy.
Have a safe weekend - - -

I think it's more like saving lives. I was just about rear ended two hours ago by a cell phone gawking teenage driver, who I was watching in my rear view due to the fact that she nearly ran off the road twice prior to the near miss of my rear end.
