When I had my built 03 cobra (show car) and wen to the mgm, I had them valet it and they asked me if I wanted it parked in front where it could be watched day and night. I said yes and gave the guy another 20 bucks. Each day I walked out the main doors and saw my car sitting there next to a ferrari and lambo. No joke lol

i always give up at least $20 just so they will keep the car close as possible, even when sometimes they say the "garage is full" , i always ask "is your pockets full" and show them a 20. money talks in this town.

For Sure
I Don't Valet. Not so worried about the guys parking and the car being safe.
My concern is the Speed Bumps as my Vette is lowered. The valets are in a hurry. The faster they park and get back the more money they'll make. And you may not discover any speed bump damage til way later.
If you hit the guy that takes the car to park up front you're good. Anything else and you just pissed away a few bucks.
I Self Park my Vette and Valet when I take any of my other cars.
If you do valet no worries about a guy joy riding. #1 if they go off property they are FIRED and these are too good of a job to lose. #2 they are in all kinds of Exotics and other high end vehicles such as Ferrari, Lambos, Bentlys and RRs that a Vette is not that special to them.

Parked at Paris self-parking while there in mid-December. It was somewhat off-peak time still so there was plenty of open space for "strategic" parking. Didn't have any problems.
I guess the valets are OK, but still am not sure that you can trust all of them to care for your car the way you would regardless of the tip. But my apprehension might have something to do with a story a co-worker once told me. He used valet parking at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe for his Mercedes some years ago. About 10 minutes after he left the car, he sees his car leaving the premises through one of the windows. When he checked with the valet "grand poobah" about what he had seen, he was told that the lot was full and that it was being moved to another area. About an hour later, he sees his car entering the lot again, but this time with more than just a driver inside. He goes back to the valet station and demands an explanation of what is going on. After much BS'ing by the valet staff, he finally learns that his car was taken to the airport to pick up guests of the hotel by the order of the valet "grand poobah" because they didn't have a hotel car available at the time. I guess he figured that the car owner would be gone for a while and too busy to notice all of this going on. But the car now was dirtier than when he brought it in, a little less gas in the tank and the trip odo was showing about 30 miles. What they didn't bother to notice was he had just filled it up and reset the trip odo before dropping to car off. Let's just say that someone may have lost their job that day and he was comped to the hilt by Harrah's.

I often park in the garage behind the MGM Grand. Go to the third level away from the casino, and park in an end space at the top of a row. I use the monorail from there to go to the convention center for SEMA and other events - never had a problem.

We used the valet when we arrived at the MGM and didn't see the car again until we left three days later. I was concerned at first but when they brought it to me I inspected it very closely before I left and found absolutely no issues at all. I guess some people can be trusted.

i don't understand why you wouldn't valet in vegas.
anyway, worry in unwarranted. The valets park much, much nicer cars than yours or mine 100 times a day and wouldn't have a job if they dinged ever other vehicle they ran across

I parked in the Mandalay Bay and Stratosphere parking garages. No one parked near me and they weren't any where near full. It's easiest to just park your self. After I saw a valet flooring a caddy around a corner, I wouldn't use the valets.

I live inn a nice Chicago suburb and younger kids point and wave, which is good since I know the younger generation at least knows what it is and may aspire to own a Corvette one day. Most folks see my car but just don't go gaga over it, or almost any other car. In Las Vegas, I doubt if a Corvette causes too much of a stir. I've never sensed any awe in my direction.
The topic, however, was valets parking cars. They park the Ferrari, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, MB SLR McLaren, Porsche Carrera GT, and many other similar cars as a matter of routine. Our Corvettes just are another nice car to them.

Thanks for all of the ideas! When I got there this past Monday, I ended up tipping the valet $40. He drove the car a total of 40 feet, and it stayed parked in front of the MGM for the entire three day stay. It was definately worth the money. I was able to walk out and check on it at any time. For the rest of the stay I was able to loose at Poker, but win at Black Jack with no worries.
There's nothing like a road trip in a corvette!

Same issue with me
I go to Vegas many times a year and your worry is valid. The MGM gets lots of traffic and parking is tight in their parking structure. There is not any 100% safe places to park where some half drunk Jamoke swings the door of his rental car wide and bang. While I have been lucky, it is like the rest of Vegas, a crap shoot. Pick the New York, New York and there is a better chance to get a less crowded parking structure. Good Luck!
