Front bumper clips
Anyone else have this problem with their car? The bumper edge near the lights keeps popping out on on me. I can press it back in , but within a few min of driving it pops back out again. Has this happened to anyone? Got a fix for it?

Since I wanted to save this thread some years ago, I made a PDF DIY so the pics would not be lost.
Hopefully, some members can use, save it if need be.

And can you install the new clips without taking the entire nose off?

I have the same problem, to a lesser degree with my car. Dealer has tried twice to fix and it keeps coming back. Now car is out of warranty and I'm going to have to fix it myself of raise hell at the dealership to do it right. Last work order indicated use of and adhesive (ugh.)
My main worry in fixing this is I noticed my car's pop up when I took delivery at the museum. I was told to let my dealer worry about it. How can the factory not get this right on a brand new R8C car?
My post here is mainly so I can find this thread when one our super knowledgeable members posts a how to.
Good luck,
Dale

scroll down on page 3 for pics and part numbers.
Loosen the front bumper from front inside engine compartment, you should be able to get to them from there by pulling up.

When I was examining two identical new 2009's at the dealer, both had some of this "pop-up" problem, and it would change somewhat depending on temperature and sunlight. The one we actually bought (for other reasons) had the least "pop", one side is barely detectable even if you look for it, the other side is noticable if you look but doesn't grab your eye the way OP's picture shows. I'm wondering if it's worth the gamble of other problems, if i have the dealer try to fix it.

These are the parts (and part numbers) that hold down each front bumper corner. One is what I call a "guide/clip" and the other is the "catch/retainer".
These parts are actually inserted into holes on the leading edge of each FENDER. They are hidden by the back edge of the front bumper near each headlight.
If your bumper is coming up near the head lights then it is possible that one or both of these plastic parts are broken and need to be replaced. The bumper could still slip off of the "catch" if the part is just worn some (after time).
If you take out the 4 screws that hold the back top edge of the bumper cover in place, you can pull up the front bumper cover on each side and possibly see if either of these parts are damaged and then replace them as needed.
NOTE: Maybe you should leave the far screw in place (opposite side from where you are working) so that the bumper won't come completely loose on top as you pull up on the side you are working on. It might be easier that way.
