Tips for pulling battery out of 06 Coupe
I have checked out all of the threads in a search but still can't determine the best way to grip and tilt the battery (to avoid any spillage through the vents as I move it) when pulling it out.
I know it is a silly question but any help in getting it out without erroring on the side of dropping it would really be appreciated
Thanks

I haven't done it yet but I don't recall anyone ever posting having any problems with spillage. I don't think it's any big deal.
For encouragement you can check this site. Click on "Battery-Optima" in the yellow pane on the left. About half way down he has an "Installation" heading with pics.

just gotta muscle it out. tip it forward a bit for clearance and reach in to grab as much as you can and pull it out. put on some gloves for extra grip and keeping hands somewhat clean. but then i am just a medium and can eventually get one of my hand/arm down to grab the bottom of the battery. if your arms are too big, you are stronger, so get latex gloves on and grip/squeeze 2 sides/corners of battery and extract it with your muscles!

When I took mine out of my 05 I put a foam fender cover over the fender and some bath towels around the engine area. Then I lifted and held on with grip like a gorilla.

+1 and don't forget to cover the fuse box. It's a natural place to rest the battery when you're taking it in or out. It seems like half the fuse box covers I see at cruise-ins and car shows are scratched up.

You just have to reach in there and pull it up and out. Don't forget there's a battery hold down bracket that you have to loosen first, at least in mine there was. You'll need a socket extension to get at it.

Good info from everyone here. I changed mine in January and it was very easy. I did use a pair of gloves with the little rubber dots all over them. Make's it easy for sure. I also put my new battery on a 1 amp charger for 24 hours before I put it back into the car. They can sit on the shelf for quite some time.

Did this last night and there really isn't any special technique to it. Just grab the battery in a couple of spots, angle it accordingly, carefully lift and out it goes. To be on the safe side use a fender cover and towels around the surrounding area in the engine bay to avoid possible scratches.

That's the best way. The strap costs about 4 bucks, and helps you pull the dang thing right out. 30 second job start to finish.
