Too old for a vert?
I have had 5 convertibles in the last 25 years. On my second C6 vert. The wife keeps complaining about the car with the top down, too loud, too windy, too hot, too cold.
I am starting to see her point of view (don't tell her I said that).
I am too old for the vert? Is it time to go back to a coupe?
I may retire in a year and if I am going to go for another car, I would prefer to do it while I am still working.
Opinions welcome. Thanks.

don't take this negatively....you gotta be kidding! too hot, too cold, too much wind, noise, etc....fer cryin' out loud----do you, or don't you like a convertible? if the answer is yes, keep it. if the answer is, I keep hearing this whine next to me, make a decision to keep it, or accede to the wishes of another. that's it.

I don't like Verts for that reason of being too windy and noisy. I liked my 98 C5 coupe where I could just take off the top section. Was a little noisy but not as bad and the wind wasn't a real factor. Don't think age matters at all it's if you want to put up with the noise and wind that makes my decision. I don't want to take anything away from those Vert owners, they are sweet looking and I don't dislike them at all. I personally don't want to deal with those 2 issues.

I have heard that C6 coupe (with top off) has more turbulence in cabin than a 'vert with top down. Do you agree?
OP: Respectfully I disagree. I do not think you are too old for a 'vert. And you will never be.

Kind of sums it up nicely.

The Vert is nosier than my 05 coupe but a hell of a lot more fun for my old *** ..No regrets here at all. By the way my wife has the same complaints as yours.

Sounds like you are trying to be convinced to do what you already want to do. Go for it.
I still like driving my '69 Camaro vert (that I purchased in 1971) on warm summer nights.

lmao, I love it. " Dress Rehersal, lmao " Leave her whiney A_ _ home when you want to put the top down. Or if she is along, keep the peace and leave the top up. If the wife is along I know the top isn't going down. I am 67 and put the top down anytime it is 65 degrees or better here in the midwest. I have owned four Vettes, all verts. I love top down.

It is not a question of age at all. If your wife doesn't like the top down, and if she rides with you virtually all the time, then you might as well go with the coupe and gain greater security, aerodynamics and twice the trunk space. However from what I understand the convertible has far less buffeting and is quieter than the coupe with the roof removed, so don't think that is an option to solving your wifes objections. Have you used or considered a wind screen? I suspect that might make a substantial improvement in any convertible.

Test drive a coupe with the top off, if that is still important to you. I suggest you will find a far louder with the top off than a vert with the top down.
I know you will find the coupe louder with the top up vs the convertible with the top up.
