I agree and this was my first Mod as soon as I got the Vette home. Threw them in the trash which might have been a mistake as it looks like I could have sold them to some on this Forum.
I used fishing line and carefully sawed through the foam part of the double sided tape they are stuck on with. I then used Goo Gone to remove any residue. Came out perfect, no scratches. It enhanced the flow of the Vette lines and it looks much cleaner.

After reading an article on aerodynamics, I decided to take mine off.
Besides the clean look, there's an added benefit of .00000361 mpg increase due to a .0000048% decrease in overall weight and a .0000006253 reduction in aerodynamic drag.
