Default Fair Price?

Thinking about purchasing a 2005 corvette. What is a good price for a blk/blk 2005 coupe with 22K. Everything is stock with no modifications. Options include: Power everything, HUD, navigation, heated seats, bose system, removable top. It is an automatic tranny. Thanks!

26k would be the top for me on a 2005 considering a 2006+ with the 6 speed auto/paddle shifters can be had for a couple thousand more.

That was the exact price that came to mind. It may be difficult convincing the owner of that price. I think an 05 with those options would be better than an 06 that is plain. What sets an 06 apart from an 05 considering all things equal?

Default just my 2 cents

The 05 and 06 are the same. If you are going to race it then the 06 differential is worth 1k more to you. An 06 is about 2k in resale value higher. The LOW miles and rare package options are a big deal here. 26k work be right for a littler higher mile & loaded 05.

I have a 2005, same car, lightly modded but a manual trans. Took it to a ford dealer for fun to see how much they would give me on a trade for a 2007 8K GT500, they gave me a 26K trade in value, which is probably considerably higher since it was based on a trade for the cobra @ about 3 grand over retail lol

Is the general consensus being that the car is worth 26k? It also has XM and Onstar but it will need new tires since they are the originals. It seems like everyone selling this model and year are stuck in the high 20s. Personally, I just don't see it.

Honestly I wouldn't even look at 05s. What's the incentive? It's the worst model year of the c6 and people are trying to sell them for 28k when hoi can get an 07 for that price.

Don't waste your time for a lesser car for the same price.

I actually didn't know that that 05' was the worst model year. Why is that? You can't touch an 07' with that mileage and options for 28k.

I had an 05 for several years and loved it. Nothing wrong with the 05. I never see any 3LT 07's with low mileage for 26,000.

I have an 05, only problems so far are a new gas cap and recall for service active handling due to wiring harness with the telescopic steering. Other than that it a great car, loaded like the one your looking at.

I got an 06. Would have gotten or an 05 or an 07. Just the right price, the right color, the right miles, options, etc.

I think the person on here who posted that the miles and the options are key for you was probably right.

So then don't buy it.

Tires are going to set you back $1500-2000 if you stay with the stock or similar tires. That is probably why he is getting rid of it. $26k is about right for an 05 but I've seen 08s go for about $35-40k although considering it needs tires and without a warranty that may be too high. If $26k was my limit then I would look at a real good C5.

It is tough to find C5's for the price many CF pundits say C6's are worth. My suspicion is that many of them are dealers who want to drive down sellers prices only to jack them up when selling them.

If you can find an '05 C6 coupe with 1SB package and auto for $26k, go for it.

I want to clarify that their is nothing wrong with the 05s in particular. Just that it's the first model year and if you want an auto big difference from 05 to 06.

The market has started to really turn around and its the worst time of the year for a buyer of a summer sports car. Personaly I think that $26k is a fair deal for that car but honestly I know someone in AL that just sold an 05 for $28.25k (stock, 17k, loaded.) The 05 bashing on here gets really old and I would be willing to bet 75%+ of the bashers have no real proof except for the others complaining. I would see when the car was produced. I think its mainly the first 10k or so 05's that did have the majority of thye issues. I have one and have had 0 issues as have most of the 05 owners on here. My opinion if you want a car that is the most dependable a Corvette shouldn't be your first choice regardless of year. Good Luck.

1. 2005 Corvettes had some 1st-year issues. Some things to look for: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...w-morning.html

2. The 05 automatic is a 4-speed -- a good tranny. But the 06-and-newer C6 has a really good 6-speed auto with paddle shifters.

3. Consider expanding your search to 06/07 models... lots of year-to-year changes might be important to you (see post #11): http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-the-same.html

4. Mid-$20k's is about right for a good 05. So an asking price of upper-$20k's seems reasonable.

5. I've heard of 05's selling for low-$20k's. But like any used car, you also need to consider the car's options, condition, maintainence, repair history, use/abuse (garage queen or track *****?), modifications, etc.

6. It seems that west-coast owners want more for their cars. So location makes a difference. And the economy seems to be improving -- more so in some places.

7. It's Spring driving season, so prices are higher.

8. Like any used car, do your due diligence and get the car checked by a competent mechanic -- preferably someone with Corvette experience.

9. Look in the forum "for sale" section: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...s-for-sale-98/

...this 05 looks nice: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-27-350-a.html

Enjoy your search!
