Glass Top wind noise???
Just test drove a C6 I really liked. The only thing wrong I found was a wind sound coming from the top of the windshield. It becomes apparent around 60mph and gets worse the faster you go. I did remove the roof and installed it, it did not help. I noticed the front of the roof sits lower than the top of the windshield, is this normal? Do the gaskets go bad?
The car has 60k miles and is in great shap otherwise.
thanks

Yes, most C6's I have driven do not have the wind noise I described above.
This one, however does. Has anyone heard of the gasket going bad? Most roof panel noise posts have to do with creaks and rattles. This car does not have those issues, just what sounds like an air leak at the top of the windshield.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Bad weatherstrip is the most likely cause, but i would also check for a slightly bent frame either on the top or on the WS.
Do you have the ability to temporarily install another top to see how it sounds?

No wind noise at all with the glass top on my 05. Maybe the seals/weather stripping needs replaced??? Would be a very easy fix. I don't think it would be anything else. With 60k on the clock that is most likely the issue. If every thing else is good on the car don't let that stop you from buying the car.

The window and top seem to fit square, but the front of the top does look low. When I first drove it the top was making some creaking/popping sounds. I removed and reinstalled it. After that we hit the highway and noticed the air noise. The creaking did go away though. It may have been a long time since the roof was pulled which makes me question if the gasket will loose its shape.
I don't want to buy this thing to find out the window frame, top or car is not straight.

I wonder if you could take it through a dealership on a test drive and check it out. If a dealer is selling it to you, check with them. You should not hear too much wind noise with a hard top cover.
Let us know what you come up with.

When I changed the top on my '07 from solid to transparent, I got wind noise on the passenger side because the fit was a bit different.
I found instructions on the forum on how to remove the sun visors, so that I could get to the mounting brackets behind the trim on the windshield header. The brackets are adjustable, I used a sheet of paper between the top panel and front gasket to get it right, never a noise/leak problem again afterwords.

Clean Carfax means absolutely nothing.... been there, done that, got rid of the 1996 vette after 3 months of ownership...25,000 mile vehicle that looked beautiful...traced the problem down to a major front end replacement that was not reported, cross railroad tracks with the top off and it shuttered like it was breaking in two, top on, drove smooth as silk. Chevy dealership had sold it on auction after the repairs down in south Fla.
