Car wash
I know this is sacriligeous, but can you take the c6 to the car wash, or is the spoiler too low?
I have always hand washed my cars, but I have become disabled and dont know how much longer I will be able to drive, never mind wash my car.
I hate seeing it dirty. Will the car fit into a carwash?

Sorry to hear of your Disability. I have problems also. Back in my younger days sometimes I washed and dried the car 2 times a day. My dealer has an automated car wash with no tracks or blankets. Its completely touchless. Its wonderful and does a good job. The last is a Spot Free Rinse so sometimes I wipe it off and sometimes I dont. I fully realize that for touchless to do a good job the chemicals are probably harsh. That just means more waxing or polishing. Ya have to take what you can get. When ever I have seen tracks on the floor, they were always to narrow for the Corvette...

Aside from the obvious caveats, be careful of the tracks (if they use one).

Sorry to hear about your dilemma.
You could also find a good hand car wash that you trust. Check out their reputation before you decide to take the Vette there. If you've got a less than 'Vette status daily driver, or the wife's car you could give them a try. I used to work at hand wash in high school that was in a really nice area here in Atlanta and we had to learn from the detailers before we were allowed to wash cars... but it taught me how to do it to mine and you better believe my 4 door Saturn was always the cleanest car in the school lot... plastic body pieces and all!
Good luck!

Thanks everyone
Its a standard coupe, not gs. I am going to try to find one of those hand car washes, although I dont know of any near me, and I hate anyone else touching the car. I will keep going myself as long as I can.

I would look for someone that hand washes locally. Ask them if they mind using your towels and perhaps wash. You can control towels that are used time and again and could be contaminated. Perhaps a young teenager locally that would not mind making some $$ and you can oversea ??
If you can do general wiping, you might actually find a rinseless wash a great option. You spritz, sit, wipe, and rewipe.

I wish you were a neighbor ... I'd wash it for you !

I use a big full service car wash in Athens Ga. Never a issue. They hand dry. In fact one day a tan Porsche boxer was in front of me and a green Jag was behind me. In a far right drying lane was a black 911.

Notice: If you drive the vehicle through an
automatic car wash that does not have enough
clearance for the wide rear tires and wheels, you
could damage the vehicle. Verify with the manager
of the car wash that the vehicle will fit before
entering the car wash or use a touchless car wash.
Notice: Driving the vehicle through an automatic
car wash that has silicone carbide tire cleaning
brushes, could damage the aluminum or
chrome-plated wheels. The repairs would not be
covered by the vehicle warranty. Never drive a
vehicle that has aluminum or chrome-plated wheels
through an automatic car wash that uses silicone
carbide tire cleaning brushes.

The wide tires could be a problem. I would just ask around. The biggest problem I've seen is the rags they use to dry the car. They use the same rags on the wheels so brake dust in the rags can cause fine scratches in the paint over time and shows up worst on dark colors. Also car washes tend to not clean the wheels well.
Drive around until you see one with BMW's and such then ask if your vette will fit.
Good luck.

Use a touchless car wash. They do a nice job, and in addition don't scratch your car's finish like a hand car wash. I use seperate suitable sprays on the tire surfaces, the wheels and the fender liners before entering the car wash, and wave off the attendendent with the hand applied acid wheel cleaner spray. I usually drive a distance afterwards before doing touch-up drying in order to sling dirty water out of the disc brake rotor passageways onto the interior surfaces of the wheel barrels. I then apply spray wheel protectant to protect against brake pad dust and coat the tires with a low gloss dressing using curved sponge built for the purpose. My CRM Vette is 2 3/4 years old and still looks virtually new. Between washes I use a California Duster to remove dust and pollen. Maybe you could pay a neighborhood kid to go to the car wash with you and do the hand spraying and wiping, and to clean the interiors of the windows; as a kid I would have done it for free just to ride in such a cool car!

A trackless and touch free car wash is what you need to use and you'll be fine - I really hope that you are able to keep your longer much longer.

The wide tires could be a problem especially scuffing them on the tracks. I took my SUV through the car wash only once - took two plastic parts off and imbedded a piece of metal in my tire.
