You sold your Z06 for a what?!
Well, I'm probably the only guy in the world to make this swap...
I had an 05 C6 that I hot rodded and DD'd about 90k miles. I probably would have kept that car a year or two longer had some issues not arisen with it after some mods. I figured why not get all that modded hp in a factory package? So a used C6Z it was... but was it? I test drove some other cars (911 and a CTS-V, for example). I couldn't really decide until I eventually got an 08 Z06.
After 5 years with my first C6, I never really clicked with the new Z. It was an absolutely amazing car with mind-boggling performance, but that connection with the car never happened. Maybe it was because I bought a silver one (instead of black, white or red), or maybe it was because I had been in a C6 platform for 6+ years, but it just didn't seem right. So off it went... and I pursued what was an all time dream car of mine.
Here's the C6 that started it all:
Here's the C6 Z06 that, while a fantastic car, just never clicked:
As for the dream car... let's just say I was born late. I just missed the chance to order one of these new but always wanted one. Sure enough, one came up on a classic car site optioned in literally the most ideal way possible with the preferred color. To top it off, it was a 12k mile survivor with the original window sticker and full documentation. It was a chance to buy that "new" car.
And here it is: a 1991 Camaro B4C police package with the 305 TPI and T-5 manual. The B4C package takes the Z28 drivetrain and performance options and puts it in plain RS body work, which I prefer to the Z28's high-rise spoiler and hood louvers. The car had 12k miles due to never being put into full service as a highway patrol car. The department never used it and it simply switched hands from private collectors/enthusiasts over the years. The car is all original save for a tint and an aftermarket radio.
The car has the following options for history folks:
LB9 - TPI 305 motor (245hp and 300 lb ft tq)
T-5 manual
3.42 performance axle w/ posi
J65 four wheel disc brakes
Engine oil cooler
16" factory wheels with 245/50/16 (original rubber)
Radio Delete
Speaker system (radio delete but optional speaker system was common for police cars)
Dual converter performance exhaust
AC
FE2 suspension package
RPO B4C - Special Service Package - this allows all of the Z28 performance options above without actually choosing Z28; it then packages it in RS Trim
The car is a blast to drive; surprisingly it gets about 25 MPG on the highway and is very quick for a car of its vintage (about a mid 14 second car, solid for 1991).
Call me crazy but I've been driving the thing quite often (on new tires of course). That's what I bought it for - to drive, enjoy, and keep.
Smells new inside. Last owner put in an aftermarket radio since the car came with speakers but radio delete. I'm thinking about taking it out and putting the delete panel back in.

Cool ride for sure. I love the 3rd gens and almost bought one a couple years ago. And I had an 89' TransAm GTA in white / tan back in the day. But, I wouldn't choose it over a C6.
If you haven't found it your new website is thirdgen.org. You have a beautiful car there. It's not easy to find an unmolested 3rd gen Camaro.

nice car! Honestly i wouldnt have made that trade, but you have to do what makes you happy.
I had an 89RS, 89 IROC, then a 92Z. Wish i still had the 89 IROC, though the 92Z would run circles around it even though they technically had the same 5.7 TPI motor. The 92 did have the dual cats but it was just a stronger running car.
Enjoy your B4C. Its not every day you run across something so rare and in such great condition.

Awesome Awesome Awesome!!
Good for you! I love that car! ...and all the history around it too!
It looks BRAND NEW!
I couldn't have connected to that silver Z either. Too "plain". I love the look of your first C6. That was a car well done.
Enjoy and congratz!!

You know, to this day I still miss my Camaro's (1969 SS/RS Pacecar, 1982 Z28 and 1994 Z28) Not sure if I would be content with one to replace my Z06, but I can see where you are coming from. I still wouldn't mind finding a 1991 Conv IROC one day. But I really don't have a place for it.
Congrats, and at least one of us understands your decision.

If that does it for you, fine.
