Ran into an interesting news article today. With all the A6/M6 debating I see here, I think it provides some interesting insight to the M6 mindset!

The moral to that article is " do not believe everything you read". I bought a manual because thats what my wife wanted. I was good either way, my c5 was auto, have owned numerous other manual vehicles.

I got a MN6 because I feel more in control. I have always driven a manual and would never drive a auto even if it had paddle shifters. Needs a clutch for me to have fun
a manual is 100%
a manual is 100%

It's obviously a prank! Oh wait, I saved enough to buy a spare igniter box for one of my jets!
Actually, a lot of dealers want more for the stickshifts and refuse to deal on them like the automatics because they do not produce as many. I just bought my wife a new Mini Cooper S and paid more for a stick because they only had a couple vs 25 automatics.

When I was looking to buy in '07 I was also considering the Pontiac GTO. If I can recollect properly, I think the automatic GTO had low enough MPG to throw it into the gas guzzler tax but the manual did not.
So GM had the auto at no extra charge and the manual was about an $800 option. I think the extra $$ for the manual was because of the extra tax on the automatic models. Go figure... I think pricing is just a game.
EDIT: Yep, here it is on a 2006 Goat. $695 for optional manual trans
Options
Powertrain Retail Price Invoice Price
6-speed manual transmission $695 $577
Deletes Gas-Guzzler Tax.

Corvettes need manual transmissions. My wife has a 09 BMW M3 with the dual clutch transmission that is supposedly quicker than the stick. Her Z4 has the dual clutch transmission also. They are both boring to drive. No paddle shifter will ever replace rowing through the gears and having a clutch pedal.

MN6! I have had automatic C5's and I really felt like I was missing the Corvette experience that I wanted. That's just me though. If I had paddle, I don't think I would use it. I don't in my other cat that has it.
