Helmet painting ideas
I got a racing helmet for HPDEs and wanted to add some custom paint.
I was thinking to black out the silver vent covers to flat black (like my wheels)
Stenciling "SINISTER C6" across the back in red
Maybe a logo, like a decepticon logo in flat black with a touch of red
use red wheel pinstripe around the face mask
Here's my car, what sort of ideas do you guys have?

You're only limited by your imagination, the quality of the painter and your wallet. Depending on how crazy you want to get it can get real pricey. I took my helmet to a local custom car shop (they regularly paint helmets for Greg Biffle and other pro drivers). I wanted my helmet to match the mag red color of my car. They suggested I put my blood type on the back but I just had them put my name on.
Here's a small sampling of some other helmets the shop did:

Like someone else said, that is a personal preference. I've had many helmets over the years, some custom painted, some not. This is the helmet I wore back when I was drag racing alcohol dragsters. As you can see there are many scars on it from my helmet banging up against the roll cage from either tire shake or the times it starts bouncing after the chute comes out. The next one is from my moto-cross racing days. I looked at other custom painted helmets and took a bit from different ones to come up with a design I liked at the time. It's seen it's share of scars as well. Mpst recently I too bought a new helmet for HPDE events and this time I went with flat black. Maybe later I'll consider custom paint but for now I kind of like the flat black look. One thing about custom painted helmets. You may as well drop it right off the bat and get that first mark on it, then you won't have to worry about babying it and being super careful that you don't scrath it or something.

My choice
Got mine from Harris Decals...Google to get the address...
You can take a stock design and just change the colors.
I have a Simpson Bandit as my HPDE, race helmet.
You can put them on or for a fee they will install...
About $60.00
Just my two cents......
