Default Corsa Sports...shoulda done this

a long time ago! I had a Corsa Toruinng system on my car and thought it sounded very good. A little louder than stock and just what I was looking for as I've had Borla Stingers (GM Off Road Performance), B&B PRTs and Flomasters and hated the drone. The touring system is made up of Corsa Sport axle back mufflers and an H-pipe with two resonators mounted forward of the "H". While satisfied with the system overall, I was dispointed with the sound under hard acceleration and wanted to get something a little more agressive.

Having read alot on this forum about the Sports system and the "high pitched euro sound", "loud popping on de-accelleration" and "not agressive enough" I was a little leary of making the change. But since cost was only reinstallation fo the factory X-pipe I figured I try it.

Off came the Touring H-pipe w/resonators and back on went the '08 factory X-pipe.
All I can say is the sound is absolutely perfect for me at idle, with the throttle mashed and at cruising. No drone, lots of good sounds outside the car and a real nice mellow burble when letting off on the throttle. It's been on now for over 600 miles and it's a keeper!

Anyone considering an exhaust system for a basically stock car should spend the time to hear this system in person both inside and outside the car before making any decisions. I'm glad I can finally stop looking thorugh e-bay classifieds and CF C6 parts for sale at exhausts.

Had the Corsa Sports on my 2006. Loved the sound, and the lack of drone at highway speeds.

Default Resonators

Thanks for the tip I think I just might try it. My car is a A6 any difference?

Bandit1 do you have the resonators, I can't remember.

I have Corsa exhaust with headers. It's exactly what I wanted in sound. Not too much resonance or drone, not too loud at idle and it screams at WOT.

Scruff: I was up wayy to late last night...so my reading comprehension is down a bit. With all the swapping of this and that what exactly did you end up with? I need something in the Corsa range for an A6 LS2.

Thanks,

Headers will wake up the Sports especially at wot.

Headers=hot rod, at least from my late 1950's memories.

I would think that for a DD it would get tiresome.

I have the set up now. But not a DD.

Waiting for the warranty to expire is definitely for the patient type. I had a blower on mine within 6 months of new. But when yours expires, headers will make the Xtreme system a complete different wild animal!

I just switched from the Borla stingers to the Corsa sports and am much happier. Its all personal taste in how you want your car to sound. The Borlas were just too loud for me while cruising on the highway. Idle and acceleration were awesome. There is definately drone at certain rpm's with Borlas too. Love the Corsas but the installation as far as getting the tips straight at the rear of the car can be tedious. I had them all in the car and they were close, but not perfect. I was gonnna tighten everything up and go with it, but I'm fussy so I did a search here and found a cool method one of the members used to hold the tips straight until you tighten them up and it worked like a champ. I also had a problem with the passenger side muffler being a tad higher than the other. No matter what I did, I couldn't get that last adjustment where I wanted it. I went in the house and took a coffee break, and when I came back to the car and studied it,,,,I came up with a solution. I removed both brackets with the rubber mounts on them that hold up the passenger side muffler, and I enlongated the hole 1/8 of an inch with a file. I also bent the locking tab on each one so the bracket could slide down in the hole and the mufflers lined up perfectly. Another case where this place really helped me out. Thanks guys and thanks Corvette Forum !
