extended warranty advice
I just bought a 05 convertible with 64K miles.
I have full service history from dealer and have 1 months waranty with this dealer.
They offered me an extended warranty covering power train, electrical, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, steering, cooling, fuel systme.....
with a company called century service plus.
price to pay is $2700 for 36/36
what do you think??
is there other company I can contact to have other quotes?
Thanx

No way I would do that. If you think it will make you sleep better then go for it but I think you are being taken to the cleaners. I'm really not even sold on the GMPP but it would be the only one I would even consider for a second. If something breaks on mine I'll pay for it. Put that $2700 away in a savings account and you have $$$ if you ever need it.

Categorically, warranties are absolutely the worst return on your money.

GMPP is really the only one I'd consider, but since your car's beyond the original 36K/36mo it's not an option. Aftermarket warranties can be risky, and $2700 is more than double any GMPP I've ever purchased. Ask around to different dealer's and repair shop's to see if they'll even except the coverage in question. I had a policy like this on a car once, and most dealer's wouldn't go near it.

I bought my 07 Coupe at a Ford dealer along with Ford's Extended Warranty for about $1400. It has more than paid for itself as it has covered the Nav radio, alternator, starter, and lead from battery to starter, almost $2700 and all I paid was a $100 deductible twice.
Unfortunately it won't cover the two front shocks that are bad now, at approx. $1000 each. They told the dealer if it were struts they'd be covered. Oh well.
I like the peace of mind having the extended warranty knowing that things on this car aren't cheap but I don't think I'd pay $2700 for the warranty.

I just bought an 05, with 20K miles, and was offered the same thing ($2700) and I turned it down. I've owned 3 Vettes and never have had a MAJOR problem. Knock on wood!
$2700 is A LOT of repair items.....

I think that if you can a warranty at a good cost, it's worth it. Vettes are not cheap to fix. Most people say warranties are rip offs and I would tend to agree but in the case of my Vette, the warranty has paid for itself many times over...

Example: My laptop has had 3 hard drives in 14 months, plus cleaned up from what I could do. I would hav spent several hundred dollars over what I paid for the extended warrenty.
There are many pros and cons about this, you have to make the "comfortable" decision for yourself.
Good luck!!
