Fuel milage?? )))Really(((
I'm filling up today and a guy says to me with a smug look on his face "nice car but i bet you get terrible fuel economy" I say back leaning up against my dusty car (i know thats a no no to) "Dont know, never checked, could care less" He drives off,,,,
Now i know there are alot of guys who brag about there fuel milage like 35-28 etc.. But thats just not me. The only number i asked about the car was what year and how many keys. The price, insurance, economy, how many airbags and price for options wasnt a concern, it was what i wanted. Now i did haggle the price at signing but thats just me.
Drive it, fill it, drive it some more is the only thing on my radar. To each there own. BE SAFE OUT THERE, paul

It's called obvious jealousy.
They have to find a way to attempt to devalue your car in order to recapture their damaged self-esteem by someone having a better car than them.
I truly feel sorry for these fragile folk.
(Nice car, BTW - does it get good gas mileage? )

I could really care less about what the car get MPG wise, but it is nice to get decent mileage on the highway! Best of both worlds! When people give me crap about it being a gas guzzler, I tell them that I probably get better mileage than thier econo box, and I can smoke them too!

I'm with you brother....could care less about MPG.
Only pussies care about that....LOL
The only numbers I care about are quarter mile and HP/torque numbers....

If the gas mileage was too bad, you'd have paid a gas guzzler tax when you bought it. Did you check to see if you paid such a tax? I know I didn't when I bought mine.

I'm with the OP... I'm annoyed actually at the glaring headline on our local newspaper today, "Pain at the Pump". Really? Nobody asked me. Gas prices SPIKED (!) 10 cents a gallon last week... Really? 10 cents, from 3.70 to 3.80, is a "spike?" Makes me laugh... but anyway back on point, the ONLY reason I check my mpg from time to time is to help identify any mechanical issues that could have a change in mileage as a symptom. It's just one way I help ensure my car is running like it should. The only other time I care, is when it's time to sell the car... then it can be a pretty handy selling point when a prospective buyer thinks Vettes get 10 mpg or something.

My Corvette doesn't use gasoline in the way other people think of gasoline. I put in GoHappyJuice. The Corvette GOES, I'm HAPPY and I don't care what the Juice costs.
Well not for a while yet!

No gas guzzler tax on the Z06 either. I have had both a standard c6 coupe and the Z06. Both make excellent freeway MPG. My Z gets near 27 mpg on trips to San Fran. My 06 coupe did 28.5 averaging 80 mph driving to colorado from CA and back. I had to laugh at the little toyota's trying to keep up and probably getting less fuel economy than the vette at the speeds I was averaging. Like the others here I didn't buy it for the MPG's but for the fun factor.

unfortunately these cars get GREAT GAS MILEAGE. I say unfortunate for a reason. I was getting the car ready for the Chevy Expo and had a half tank. (Requirements for entering the expo is ¼ tank). I drove all over Houston, put in paddle mode at high RPM's burned 1/8th of a tank in an hour of driving fast revving motor etc...
I ended up giving up and just pulling up the the Expo and having the wife drive it up to the fire martials. They said does it have 1/4 tank or less than 5 gallons wife said sure does. They said come on in. Moral of the story, either burn gas day before or let women park your car

Had to run an errand today. Gas prices up. Could have taken our new Jeep GC with hemi. It's averaging 2 1/2 MPG better than my old 05 GC hemi, which is a side compliment to Chysler.
No... Decided to take the C6. Better mileage than the Jeep, but not why I did it. A BLAST to drive! So, I'm GREEN, and smiling! Reset the Avg MPG before the trip. Ran my errands, had some (safe!) fun, and came home getting around 21 MPG.

To the OP, I would bet your highway gas mileage is better that whatever he was driving. I don't worry about it either, but I do know about what it is in case I run into your guy.

I never worry about mileage unless I'm planning a trip. And although I don't like price hikes, I really don't pay much attention to the rising gas prices either. Nothing I can do about so why worry.
Just a FYI - I think I get about 18 to 20mpg highway and 12 to 14mpg city... but who's counting

Coming from England, and listening to all my family, and what they are paying, I figure even if I got 5 MPG, I would still be better off here
I agree, I don't care about my MPG too
