C7 speculation from Car&Driver

More buyers by far with this way of thinking IMO.Who wants to spend big bucks on another "special edition" C6. What a better way to celebrate such an automotive milestone. I look at the 50th anni. C5 and think

It kind of looks like a "refreshed C6" with the exception of the rear which they said would probably be tamed down a bit. I can see GM improving the interior and the electrical system so they can get rid of the obsolete NAV system, maybe drop the engine down to the 5.5 and DI but not much else. I don't know if I like or could get use to the split window.

I saved a lot of the C6 speculation stuff, and none of them were what I would consider close. They all had the front end wrong, aside from it having non pop up lights.

Not for nuttin...but I didn't like the look of the C6 either when I first saw it...
But now, I'm lovin' it....
When the C7 finally arrives, we'll all be "ga ga" over it!......and a few years after introduction, we'll be so used to the C7 that the C6 will look old and outdated...
Nothing is perfect....and I don't expect the C7 to be perfect...but it'll be the evolution of our Corvette product line....
And we'll love it!...

Now this is the sort of thread that is perfect for this forum. Much better than ranting against the Mustang crowd or fussing over which Porsche or whatever is faster/slower than something else around the Nurburgring. I will also add my opinion that most American automotive publications, especially C&D are little more than extended advertisements for whichever manufacturer spends the most on advertising that month.
That said, I think the concept photo looks great to me. Yes, the nose might be a bit long, etc, but I like it.
I also tend to lean toward those of you who look to Ferrari to influence the next generation Corvette. Chevrolet has been using Ferrari styling cues since the 1950s.
The "Eggcrate" grille on the 1955 Chevys? Pure Ferrari, 166 Touring Spyder (among others)
The side "cove" that first appeared on the 1956 C1? Straight off the 375 built for Ingrid Bergman in something like 1954/55.
The vertical "slats" on the new Grand Sport? Not to mention the '65/'66 C2, Ferrari 250 GTO.
The "B" pillar and roofline on the 70's Chevy Monza? Take a look at the 365GTB/4 "Daytona" coupe (one of which belonged to GM stylist Chuck Jordan at the time)
Nothing wrong with all that of course, and I suppose when I looked at the tail lights of the concept some one posted - the one that looks a bit Mazda-like - I see Ferrari, well, whatever the current models are... F430?
So, while I have no idea what the next generation will look like, it's really fun to see the diverse opinions on this forum. Based on history, I would tend to look to Ferrari to have some influence on the next one.
Or, maybe not. To my mind, the C6 pays more homage to the C2 mid-year Stingrays than it does the latest Ferraris, except for the definitive 4 round tail lights which were pukka Ferrari during the late sixties and throughout the 70's.
To my mind, there has never really been an ugly Corvette. there have been some models that succumbed to federal regulations with poor HP ratings and horrible looking bumpers (though, arguably, only when compared to earlier models, think C3)
Anyway, whatever GM decides is the next Corvette, it will be a hit. If tradition or history holds true, we'll all try to avoid the first year or two of the new model, because we know something better and more refined is just a couple years away. Well, except for the few who belong to the "Must Have The First one In the Neighborhood/Club/Family....
Keep this thread going, It's fascinating to see the diversity of opinions. I have a hunch most of you are wrong though.

They pretty much nailed the C5 before it was released, I'm just saying...

Well, I have to say, this looks pretty definitive...since it is on the cover and looks like a PHOTOGRAPH vs some cheezy Photochop attempt.
If true, this looks like bad news to all the folks who hate the Transformer Vette. Just to be clear...this style is going to have to grow on me. I dislike the rear end immensely.
To me, again if true, this vindicates my point I made a few months back about GM having THIS CAR in their opening video on their web site, in a wind tunnel test scene.
Oddly enough, shortly after I posted that thread the car in the video changed to THIS Cadillac...
