Where do you get your oil changed?

Believe it or not I just go to my local Jiffy lube. I don;t have to worry about jacking pucks or a lift. They even let me go into the pit to watch them and make sure they are doing everything correctly.

I am very lucky to have a great dealer - they have a lot of Corvette experience and the prices are very fair. Best thing is if I go on a Saturday morning, my salesman buys breakfast while I wait.

I already posted at home but I should have shown the work area in the garage where it all takes place. You will notice that my garage is not a show place like many are. I call it a working garage so that I can get by with it being in a mess all the time.

Where to get your oil change
I have had the dealer as well as express oil change the oil in my 2005
Z51 Vette.
The dealer charged $85.00, Express Oil Charged $80.00.
Here is the key the dealer as well as express oil states if you bring your own oil you pay for the labor only.
Both the dealer and the Express Oil charges charges $25.00 with your own oil.
I've tried both so in my opinion I don't think one is better than the other. They both know how to reset your oil percentage, they both use Mobil 1 Synthetic oil.
Hope this helps.

In my garage.
Get my GS up on four (4) jack stands in a level position, remove the two (2) drain plugs and let it drain for an hour or so.
I know exactly what goes in and can take the time to make certain the job is done to perfection.

Jiffy Lube is 2 blocks from my house. I never had a problem and it takes 15 minutes. I could do it myself but I don't have ramps. And I would have to run out to the store to buy oil and filter. Then get the car up on ramps. Then lay on cold hard dirty concrete to change the oil. Then clean up and put everything away. Then I'd have to run over to Jiffy Lube anyway to have them dispose the old oil. All that to save $30 once a year? Just not worth the hassle to me.

6 qts. Mobil 1 and Delco filter cost me $32.00 to do each Vette in Bobs Garage, but it is the sense of enjoyment and pride in doing my own maintenance that i really like plus i Know it is done Right.
I made my own ramps (cost $0 ). Easy to do!

If you can make toast you can change the oil. If you are really good, you can do both simultaneously without getting crumbs in the crankcase.

just had my oil changed again yesterday at my dealer, took less than 30 minutes and came back to me damage free and as clean as it went in. They also greased the end links. All for $59.95 and they provided the coffee and doughnuts.

I live in a small town and take my Vette to the local dealer. They treat me like I am special and have a Corvette mechanic on staff who takes a personal interest in my Vette. I could change my own oil but I know this dealership needs people like me to survive and so I give them as much business as I can. When something odd comes up they solve it for me. In other words we have built up a relationship over the years. It works for me but I certainly understand the DIYS people who get a lot of satisfaction out of working on their own cars. I admire those folks who have the knowledge and ability to do a lot of things on their own cars. While I can change my own oil, anything that resembles troubleshooting is beyond me. Once the computer diagnostics came into play I was amazed at how easily "My Mechanic" was able to deal with anything that came up. Therefore I see changing oil as a means to an end. Sadly it took me a lot of years and finally Corvette ownership to realize this.

I think it needs to be said that not all Corvette owners can change their oil or work on their cars where they live.
In San Diego I live in a beach resort. Because of the demand, it took me over 2 years to get off-street parking. Very strictly enforced laws prohibit any repair work done on public streets or even publicly viewed private parking that is not a business designated for such repairs.
You guys with homes & enclosed garages are in a different category, as is my lake house in No. California where I have a 3 stall garage.
