What do you think...
05 M6 Z51 with 30k on it...no issues. So what are the chances this one will be like all the other normal cars I've had and go over 100k on the original with no prob? Certainly monitoring it but do you think it's not an "if" anymore...but a "when"?

These balancers are designed to run true. If there is a wobble, then the balancer wasn't built right in the first place or it is on its way out. Most of the time it is the filler between the inertia ring and the hub that gives out but it is always possible that the balancer has come loose from the crank but that would take one awful lot of wear to cause a noticeable wobble. You would be looking at a new crank too in this case. There are other good replacement balancers but ATI is a proven product that I would use. Our car has about 32K miles with no balancer problems yet. I've already checked out my options if something does happen.

I know one thing for sure, the GM balancers are JUNK!
GM knows it and so does EVERYONE else but as usual,GM will not
take care of a VERY well know problem because of GREED!
They have been installing these DEFECTIVE balancers for many years and have not
done ANYTHING to remedy the problem,PERIOD!

Time to bump this thread.... I finally got my Diablo Intune tuner today but my car started making this weird noise (so I won't be using it until I get this s%^t fixed...), almost sounds like metal to metal contact. I popped the hood and sure enough, the damn HB is wobbling. I turned on the AC and it's noticeably worse.... My car is a 2007 A6. Here's the video for your viewing pleasure:
I refuse to go to the dealership, so now I'm currently getting quotes from different shops. I don't see the point in spending twice as much on an ATI HB cuz my car is my DD. I'm thinking about going with either SLP or Powerbond. What do yall think?

Try Asking Tadge...He's Corvette's Chief Engineer!
Got a low-mileage '12 GS & no problems there...yet!
Proposed mentioning this to Tadge in the "Ask Tadge Poll, Question of the Week" a while back. Was quite disappointed in the total lack of interest and responses.
Rather than addressing a problem that's been negatively affecting a great deal of us Corvette owners over many years...seems like that particular Poll's gimmick was maybe only to take on softball topics where GM is not willing to accept responsibility for what is an obvious, long-running design flaw or defect?

My 07 had the original belts for 125,000 miles and the harmonic damper has had a slight wobble since it was new, Since it never got any worse I haven't worried about it. A few weeks ago I noticed when I started the car, there was a squeak coming from the engine that would last a few minutes then go away, It was difficult to tell by listing just what was causing it IE the belt, tensioner, water pump pulley, Alternator , etc. So I removed the main engine belt and started the engine and sure enough the squeak was still there, so I then sprayed the AC belt with a shot of WD-40 and the squeak stopped instantly. Replacing both belts, particularly the AC is a PITA for sure, but it did fix the squeak!

I'm on my forth Harmonic Balancer. First one went out at 96k. Had my mechanic replace it. It went out again in about 850 miles later. Then went out again with less than 100 miles since the previous one fixed.
All other ones were OEM.
Going with aftermarket now.
