1. Posted here before.

2. Doesn't work on Corvette fobs.

3. Someone's interweb posting skills are a little rusty.

Mine's in the garage and when it's out I'm with it. Also I have my little friend (AR with a few 30 rd. clips) that might have something to say about it.

So is it accurate to say that without the Key Fob, a C6 is pretty well unable to be stolen, other than towing it away?

A professional car thief probably has some way of getting past the fob other than towing but for the regular gang-bangersout there, they're going to have problems trying to start a C-6 without a fob.

If there is a car thief out there who can program a fob to beat a rolling code I'd pay him to program my Homelink

A car can be stolen no matter what but the Vette is hard to steal. However as some have found out, jacking it up and taking the wheels/tires is real easy.

Just one more thing I now have to worry about every morning when I get up thanks to the internet. Its okay though because I expect to wake up any day in a bathtub full of ice with my kidneys gone.

Sorry I missed this thread before I posted on the same topic. Couple of things of interest. I read the pdf paper yesterday, and the authors seemed fairly familiar with software code security techniques. Another most interesting thing is that the pdf of the original article which is supposed to be published in a future conference seems to be no longer available for download - at least I can't access it today from the link published in the Jalopnik article.

Just this morning I had to call an ambulance from my cell phone cause I woke up in the bathtub after someone had cutout my bellybutton while I was asleep. Don't laugh, it's not funny. Now where am I gonna store my lint?

Some of the wheel locks have a universal key at the dealers. My SUV they don't even ask for my key when it's in for service.

It doesn't sound like either of you have read the paper. The attack doesn't work by recording a fob code for use later, it works by establishing a live relay between the thief and the fob in your pocket a thousand feet away.

Encryption, rolling codes, one-time pads, none of that will help.

It takes advantage of the fact that our cars' doors will open and the starter will turn over so long as the fob is nearby. With a radio relay, they make the fob appear nearby.

That actually happened to me, honest. MY oem kidneys weren't that great so I'll ask the question, "Who makes the best aftermarket kidneys?"

Impressive but how would that work if the front wheels were left turned completely to one side or the other?
