Default $5.00 Gas prices!!!!

There was a prediction that the price of gas would reach $5.00 a gallon, which means premium would be close to $5.50. Who would sell their vett, or avoid midifications? I know regular mods, i.e Headers, exhaust, cai, and tune actually help fuel milage, but cams tend to decrease mpg. I am debating mods now. Not selling the Vet, but I would only drive it on special occasions. My wife's BMW takes premium only. we would be in trouble. I know people in L.A are use to the prices, but if the East goes up to $5.00, that would mean gas prices would be over $6.00-$6.50 a gallon!! Chevy Volt, here I come.

Give it a break and deal with if, and when, it happens. Stupid rumors are just that.

Go read a book.

Yawn.

We own 50K+ cars are we're worried about a change in monthly bills of 80-160/month?

Put down the 'light your head on fire' media and do the math.

If a change in gas prices drives you out of a 'Vette I would argue that you had too little margin to afford one in the first place.

At 12000 miles/year, getting 20 mpg, I use 600 gals/year.

At 3.30/gal (now paying) that's $2000/year for gas (BTW, much less than Corvette depreciation).

If gas goes to 5/gal, my gas bill will go to $3000/year, a change of $80/month, or about 8% of the monthly cost of owning a Vette (again, do the long math).

That said, if the specter of 5/gal gas freaks you out, sell it.

If $80/month breaks your budget, sell it, you were in over your head already.

I ride my Harley most of the time. Vette is an 06 with 8500 miles. HarleY is a 2010 with 6,000 miles. Gets a little better milage than the Vette . RIDE/DRIVE HARD!

My '05 is our most vehicle efficient as well. Summer DD's are a CTS and my wife's SRX, both AWD. My '84 'Vette is about the same MPG as the Caddys.

Pisses you off that the money is going to Canada, Nigeria, and Mexico - from which we get most of our oil. Two out of three remain in North America.

Default Gas $$$$$

This is not about a person being able to afford gas for their vet. Its about all our vehicles in general. The goverment better be careful. If gas goes to $5+ a gal. it would put us into another spin. We can drill. We need someone to tell the environmental to pack their bags and get OUT of this country. They don't belong here. We can get gas back to $16 a barrel and have fun with or Corvettes like we ought to. So, if you are a goverment offical start packing your bag and move somewhere else. Its time we take our Country back from these a** h***. Just My .02

When I started driving gas was .75¢/gal. When it went to $1.00 I thought it was crazy. Went to $2.00 and it was outrageous and on and on. At no time during all that did I ever consider selling my cars which got WAY less MPG than the Vette. It's a part of life that we have to live with and there's nothing we can do about gas prices.

Default iraq will come through

with their huge reserves i'm sure they'll work out some sort of discounted swap for us--i mean we did get rid of their dictator.
few memorials for our effort and home grown oil discounts should ease our pain.
