Default New Adviise

Ooops...Subject should read Need Advise. Fingers wasn't reacting to brain

I am ready to purchase a C6. Since this site is such an excellent source of information, I was wondering if you would answer a few questions...

1) Any differences between 05-08?
2) Any recalls during 05-08?
3) Does a manual really makes that much of a difference?
4) New vs used?
5) Is the navigation system a good option?

Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to All.

1) Any differences between 05-08?

Since you're on here since '06, I'll take these as real questions, but you have to do some searching in the C6 Gen section to answer more of your questions. One answer: yes, there is a fairly large difference betw. '05 and '08, and then '10 Grand Sports models.

2) Any recalls during 05-08?

A few on specific items, and more TSBs.

3) Does a manual really makes that much of a difference?

Only if it makes a difference to you.

4) New vs used?

What's your wallet?

5) Is the navigation system a good option?

Not to me, but a lot like it. It means a single disc CD player vs. a 6-disc, if that's worth anything to you.

Use "search" in red band at top, limit to C6 Gen, go advanced search and put in key words in the left hand top search box. You'll have to work for rather than have one post and everyone answering your questions.

Good luck.

Newer is almost always better.......especially where the '08+ is concerned. Lots of upgrades/changes to the '08's.....

LS3=430HP or 436 with the NPP dual mode exhaust,

manual trans changed from T56 to TR6060,

A6 trans got upgraded software with rev match on downshift,

availability of 4LT all leather interior (if you're into that),

different wheel styles

and some other little stuff.

Thanks all. I didn't mean to revive an old subject. I will search the database. Again, Happy Holidays!

Actually it's advice not advise you're looking for.

1. LS2 to LS3 is the main. 4 speed auto in 05, 6 speed auto for the others. Option packages changed over the years.
2. Several
3. Not to me but for some it matters.
4. 05-08 would all be used by now. Low miles and great deals are plentiful. If you want a full warranty and your choice of options, order new.
5. I like it and I use it.

1. Many differeces. Having owned both an '05 Manual Z51 and an '08 A6 Z51 the '08 is a much improved car. The main thing is Horsepower, my '05 was bolt-on modified, headers/cats, ported intake, CAI, tune and catback. My '08 is stock and has effectively the same HP as the modified '05.And a FULL WARRANTY.

2. '05 had a few problems; Crank pulley, weak differential, etc. '08 had a differential fluid change.

3. Not to me, I'm happier with the A6 in the '08. It's just as quick, less problems (no skip shift, no clutch fluid changes, no replacement clutch worries, no short shifter needed, hassle free driving in traffic and on steep hill starts).

4. Used is ALWAYS cheaper but I bought both new and suffered the depreciation of $7-8,000 the second I drove it off the Dealers lot. There's something about a Virgin; Never "rode hard and put up wet"?

5. Ended up with Nav. in both, probably the stupidest $1800 I ever spent.

Advice? Buy the newest lowest mileage '08 or newer with the color and options you want that you can easily afford.

I would avoid an 05 manual and an 06 automatic.

Get an 08+ and enjoy the LS3, no replacement for displacement
