2008 prices on the forum...
So I'm in the market for 2008. I have been looking at fs section here, and prices are a lot higher than autotrader/cars.com. Why is that? I thought people had good deals on their cars in the forum. I see prices on the autotrader starting around 28k and average 32-33... on the forum it's 35-38 average. I'd rather buy from a known forum member, but i'm not willing to overpay...

I guess its because people here believe that the ls3 will rake in more money but on other sites, its just an 08. If you can find an 08 for under 30 grand in good shape, jump on it, no matter where you find it

What??? how th ehell does that explain anything? Are you trying to say that because I love my car, Im going to jack the price up so I wont sell it, or that only 08 and up owners love their cars?? Its plain and simple, when you live in the corvette world, you FEEL like you car is worth more for whatever reason. Step into the real world and youll see they are just another car....

In addition you can usually follow the progress of a cars history based on the owners posts here on this board. JMHO

You never low ball the car at the beginning of a sale. Most sellers will bargain you just have to contact them. But I do agree some folks want to get top dollar for their cars but when they buy want dirt cheap prices. That's the reason I bought a new GS this year. Most of the cars were nice but wanted alot - so I added some extra and got new. I also found a few that were not well taken care of - that's why you find a **** vette owner who's selling. But then they expect a nice price.

It's simple.Everyone on the forum has a 1 of a kind, immaculate Corvette that they refused to pay anywhere near invoice for when new but now that they want to sell the value magically goes thru the roof.

kotik, are you asking a question or stating what you see as the truth? if you believe that the cars are the same, autotrader to CF, buy wherever you feel it's the best bargain. but price alone does not mean much, at least not in a used car. two exact same models equipped, can be worlds apart and you know that. it is very possible that cars on here from members have been well cared for, and seen by other members. cars on autotrader, you have to go find, look at, drive, and guess what's up with it.
so, AFTER you go look at both examples, then come back and tell us the price of one is too high compared to the other. anything else, and it's just your guesswork compared to someone else.

I see sellers on this forum with 2005 converts that are insulted if anyone suggests that their asking price in the high thirties is to high.
Even the dealers are having a hard time getting over $30k for 2008 converts. The Chevy dealer I deal with here in Tucson had a really nice loaded 2008 convert for sale for over two months with a 12 month bumper to bumper GM warranty and they were only asking $32k.
After two months of it sitting they finally sent the car to auction a couple of weeks ago.

A no option, 2008, 1LT, manual coupe with 24,000 miles on it, in excellent condition, has a private party value of $33,010. With a automatic trans that same car books at $32,675. There is your base line. Hell, the trade in value on a 2008, 1LT, automatic coupe with 24,000 miles on it is $30,775.
Many of the cars for sale will have less miles, and of course options. All of the improvements made for 2008, and the fact that the Z51 option was discontinued and replaced by the GS in 2010, makes '08's and '09's very desirable. Happy shopping.
2008 Coupes = 20,030
2008 Coupe, Manual = 6,726
2008 Coupe, Manual, Z51 = 3,491
2008 Coupe, Manual, Z51, NPP = 2,277
2008 Coupe, Manual, Z51, NPP, 1LT = 502
2009 Coupes = 8,308
2009 Coupes, Manual = 2,768
2009 Coupes, Manual, Z51 = 1,364
2009 Coupes, Manual, Z51, NPP = 897
2009 Coupes, Manual, Z51, NPP, 1LT= 279

KBB and NADA are a tool that dealers use to show people that their asking price is thousands less than what the car is worth.
Most of the cars on Autotrader are so far off of reality it's a joke!
