Default Question for C6 Owners Who Used To be C5 Owners

I love my C5 - but one of the more annoying aspects is how often I scrape the front air dam. Whether it's the dip leading to my driveway or a low spot in a parking lot, it's seems it's almost a daily ordeal. Not a huge deal but annoying for sure.

My question for C6 drivers is, do you feel your cars scrape the air dam less, about the same or more than a C5?

I own a C5 and a C6. I really can't tell one bit of difference as I scrape out and and scrape back in my driveway. They both seem to scrape about the same amount. NUTS, but that is just the way it is. I've tried going slow. Scrape. I've tried going very slow. Scrape. I've tried going quickly. Scrape. The best I can figure out for me is to just make sure the radio is on sorta loud. Scrape..........but I don't hear it as much.

Two C5's, two C6's. C5's and the first C6, same caution to avoid scraping. Second C6 is a GS, so with the Z06 styled extended front clip, I have to be even more cautious. However, worth the effort.

Loved my C5's, but loving my C6 even more.

About the same, but they're cheap and easy to replace!

C6 is worse. My Z06 is the worst of all. It is not lowered but it scrapes as much as the C5's and C6's I've owned that were lowered. It really doesn't bother me though because it's not scraping anything important.

What scrapes? That little flap/air-dam? how much is it to replace, what is it, just a few bolts and 5 minutes, if that?

What about the front lip on the front fascia of the Z. It looks easily damaged. Is it integral with the painted part of the front fascia, or can it be replaced by itself? Cost/effort to fix this?

The C5 and C6 both scrape more than I cared for. Sometimes the scraping just cant be eliminated...

"Scraping" with both the C5 and C6 is the cost we pay. Both about the same. As others have said raise the volume of the radio. You will get used to it. Usually sounds worse than it really is.

Same. But I highly recommend the C6. It is sooo much better in many way than the C5. Try to avoid the first year 2005 but anything beyond that you will find to be a wonderful upgrade.

Scraaappe!! - both are the same - The C5 air dam is hinged though is it not?? The C6 air dam is not, but the middle section can be replaced in minutes - the winglets on either side rarely scrape - 4 or 5 bolts and away you go....

About the same. Never really a concern for me in the C5 and the same goes for the C6.

Mainly the flap back under the front facia (not the plastic on the leading edge on the GS/Z06 - except occasionally). I've never had to replace either. They get scuffed a little but not enough to warrant replacing.

Yes, the front piece can be replaced easily. I don't know the cost, but it looks pretty simple to do.
