Default Battery Tender Hook up

Is there more detailed info on your hook up?

Those alligator clips are a real pain for sure.

In my opinion this is a better way, as all you have to do is snake the battery tender extension cable thru and out the front of the engine to the floor, allowing closure of the hood.

The cigarette lighter socket seems to provide a path to the same electrical points so I went that route. The battery maintainer/tender is a realtively low-current device so it should be no problem. I just leave a window rolled down a crack to run the wire -- I like easy!!

The cigarette lighter plug is one of the recommended hook-ups and works as well as anything else. It's simple and easy to use. I've used the lighter plug with my CTEK on both my 2005 and my 2009 and it's always worked perfectly with zero issues.

and also use the cigarette lighter. I keep the windows closed and run the wire over the door sill, the door gasket allows the wire to pass through without squeezing it. I have been doing one of my other cars as well as the Vette for over 10 years, works like a charm.

Then be surprised when you open the hood and they are not clipped on.

Default Hoodless Hookup

I would run the cable to the front grill, or under the car. As other threads have shown, if you lose battery, and the key fails to open the trunk (end of world scenario), you would want to be able to hookup power in a situation where you can't open the hood.

What's the need to close the hood with the charger connected? My hood is never completely closed and never has been with the alligator clips connected.
