Product introduction timing is perfect for me. I have been researching detectors for my 5 month old ZR1 for the past month. I almost pulled the trigger on the passport deal offered here on the forum but I am glad that I waited. Your product looks to be the ideal fit for my needs. I am not that familiar with the V1 but it seems to get more thumbs up than down on this thread. In reference to the comment by one member, that the radar detector is best utilized on the highway and not so much in town so as to avoid false alerts, is it possible to de-energize the unit at the detector while in town even though it is powered up using the logic of the RP? I guess that I am asking if there is an on/off switch on the V1 unit itself that is easy to actuate while driving if the unit is mounted under the passenger visor. Are there any negative issues that might void the manufacturers warranty in regard to the HUD or electrical system of the vehicle when the RP is installed? Is there any chance that your company will become a distributor for Valentine and offer a complete package deal? Thanks in advance for your reply.

There is a power switch on the V1 unit and it can be powered off if you would like. You turn the volume **** counter clockwise until it clicks and the V1 powers off.
Many devices are designed to be plugged in to the OBD-II port, such as diagnostic equipment, that can be purchased off-the-shelf from designers that are not associated with GM. The electrical specifications for the OBD-II port specifically used by the RP is defined by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in SAE J1850 and this portion of GM's OBD-II port also complies with those specifications.
Any device that plugs into the OBD-II port must also adhere to relevant SAE specifications to ensure compatibility. Our R&D process paid careful attention to be compliant with the SAE J1850 specifications. The RP interfaces to your car in exactly the same way a diagnostic code reader does.
We feel that purchasing a Valentine 1 radar detector directly from Valentine Research Inc is great way to obtain a brand new current software revision V1.
If you need any additional info, let us know.

The splitter cables for using additional devices at the OBD-II port are now available.
Use the drop down menu on our buy now button to add the splitter cable to your purchase.

Received mine today. Installing the wiring was a snap. Still need to wrap up the excess and tuck it away.
Turned it on and voila! Nice and dark V1. Everything is now in the HUD as advertised. Now I just gotta get used to reading the data there. Maybe I'll just cruise up and down in front of the California Highway Patrol

Having the V1 in the HUD will definitely improve your radar situational awareness.
Now you can keep an eye out for those CHP's.
Thanks again for your purchase,

It appears that a typical phone line splitter that people use currently to wire in a remote mute to the V1 will not work with this HUD interface unit.

from each other. This is why those sockets are labeled on your
Valentine lighter adapter and direct wire cable and why you can't swap
the two. So this prevents a typical phone splitter from being used.
DashTronix has custom, factory-made cables that will allow the use of a
remote mute button that would normally plug in to the "Accessory" jack.
We will have them in stock next week and will make them available for
sale then. Installation will be incredibly simple as it will continue
to be all plug-and-play.
We will continue to quickly respond to our customers needs.
Please contact us if you need any additional solutions.

Team DashTronix,
I may purchase this for my 2008 Vert. However, I also have a 2009 Cadillac STS-V with HUD. Will your unit work with this as well?
Thanks.

I am not very gifted when working with installation on this type of thing. Could a dealership do the install and how long would it take for install?
I am rather intriged by this and the holidays are coming, perfect gift.

I purchased before the splitter was available, is there a way to purchase the splitter by it self?
The drop down menu only had the splitter available with the purchase of a new Radar Projector™.
