Default What are my chances with my current setup against a new GT-R?

Right now my 2008 auto is putting down 455 rwhp with full exhaust, cai, x1 cam and a tune. I have a fairly large wager on a race at the track with my buddy's new, but stock Skyline GT-R. What are my chances as i stand now? Will an lsx intake and new heads put me over the edge?

455 to the wheels should be enough if you get off the line right. That thing weighs 3800+ lbs I think, where your at 3300+-.I'd say you win now.

you better be a good driver cause even with a monkey at the wheel that GTR is gonna launch perfect every time. its going to come down to your driving skill in this case. even then at those power levels i would put my money on the nissan.

Sounds like you should have enough to take care of the GT-R. Most of the GT-R guys are terrified to race due to the warranty issues. Heard a lot of owners are just not happy all the way around with what many consider a over priced and rather ugly car.

Good luck.

Only the first year of the GT-R has launch control, so equal drivers the Vette wins

people forget this, and the weight of the GTR at about 3800lbs vs the vette at 3300 pounds makes a good amount of difference. The GTR is no slouch per-say, but with HP OP has, should not be a problem if he gets a decent launch.

I would give your Vette a slight edge but you gotta get that GT-R out of the hole.

if the gtr is stock, it'll run consistent high 11's at 118'ish. as long as you can do better than that than you'll be ok

if it was me, I'd swap your cam to a blower cam and install an ecs/a&a kit, end of story. if he simply installs a mid-pipe, cai, and dyno tune he'll run high 10's in the upper 120's while sipping on a mocha latte.

How good are you at drag racing? He has an edge with the auto tranny. GTR is 3.2 sec 0-60 with launch control. Mid 11's 1/4 mile. I'd be nervous.

They're running quarters in the mid to high 11's with the right driver.

I've got 572rwhp and I'm all over the 11's with a best time of 11.1 at 3k elevationi 70 degree day.

again guys look at the weight of the 2 cars, the vette has a 400-500lb weight advantage over the GTR, that is like driving with 2 extra passengers in the car vs the vette with 1 passenger...it makes a differnce. I am not haten on the GTR, but lets not forget what a difference weight makes. It's not all about the HP and launch.

but since we are all so concerned about HP, read the original post, he is thinking about putting heads and intake on his car too, that will push him into the 500RWHP range easily.

OP, get a good launch and you'll get him with your current set up. add the heads/intake, and its a no brainer.

the GTR looks but in photos but in person they look a lot better. What I didn't like was the exhaust note is almost non-existent.

Thinking about the car's weight is why I said he wins as long as he gets a good start;Thinking about the GT-R's awd!

They have exhaust sound? The ones who have raced up to get beside me never did.
