BlendMount, An Adjustable Radar Detector Mount For Your Valentine One

BlendMount, An Adjustable Radar Detector Mount For Your Valentine One
I am posting these pics and 3D renderings to help explain how our new mount adjusts and functions.
The V1 is adjusted to where it almost touches the bottom of the mirror to minimize any viewing obstruction.
There is still clearance for the V1 to slide out without hitting the bottom of the mirror.
To remove and install the V1 takes less then 5 seconds.
This transparent 3D rendering shows how the components bolt together and how the rubber pad is what
actually makes contact with the bottom of the mirror eliminating the need for any adhesives.
The anti-vibration pad greatly reduces any mirror vibration.
Here are the four major components of the mount. The bottom right piece shows the 40 degree rotational adjustment.

That's pretty spendy, but interesting.
I'd like to hear from other CF members who have experience with the Great Lakes mirror mount to compare the two. I like the fact that this one is adjustable and it looks like it may be more stable as well.

Nice looking unit. Looks far better than the suction cups. A little pricey, yes. How about posting up the install write-up so we can see just what it takes to install one of these.
Thanks
Thanks

I have these in both my Silverado and the Corvette. These may cost a little more but they really well built. There is no shake and they look to be part of the car not a add on. Well worth the money in my book.

Kind of crappy pics but you get the point.

I have one of these in my Caddy SRX with a Passport and I really love it. It is a piece well worth the money and beautifully designed. You can adjust it to exactly where you want it and once tighten down will not move or shake at all. I'm going to get another for my Silverado next. Made my own mount for the ZO6 and I am happy with that one.

Don't know what you are really asking-but I can use my visor again now.

why is it not compatible with the z-51 suspension? does it rattle and fall off due to the harder springs or shock valving? It looks nice but the price point is a bit steep for a radar mount I think.

This is an inherent design problem with the C6 mirror assembly, and not with the Blendmount itself. Anything that's attached to the mirror or its mount increases its overall mass and lowers its resonant frequency. As it happens, the weight/mass of a radar detector causes the whole assembly to oscillate when you drive over seams and bumps in the road. The foam rubber pad that presses up against the windshield dampens oscillations around that resonant frequency and minimizes mirror vibration. Not just any foam rubber will do the job. It must have the proper thickness and stiffness/compliance.
I'm told my F55's ride is smoother than a Z51's, so they may need a different damping factor for Z51 rubber pads. It's my guess the two are so close that two different pads aren't needed. Mike's a good engineer (and a bit of a perfectionist), so it won't take him long to figure it out.
The Blendmount is not cheap, but for the same price as a set of Lloyd's mats you can get a factory-quality mount for your $400 radar detector.

Just want to clarify that this thread is for the Valentine One mount. I will be posting a new thread for the Beltronics / Escort mount shortly.
As far as the steep price point goes, all I can say is, you get what you pay for.

Mike,
Outstanding to see this finally come to market!
I have been a fan of the BlendMount units since a friend of mine told me about them several years ago. He uses in his vehicles and had nothing but great things to say about them. Unfortunately nothing was available for the C6 Corvette. I now have one of these units and have been using it successfully for a couple of months now. Here is my situation:
2007 Victory Red Z51 Convertible - Stock
I initially had the visor mount from a vendor on here. Worked great, but always had to turn my head to view the V1 when it went off to determine the signal and origin. Also total loss to the use of the passenger visor.
I installed this unit in about 15 minutes, made a few adjustements and was off. Vision is perfect out of both sides of windshield, no obstruction. When detector goes off, I can see signal information very easily with out moving my head. Vibration in mirror has actually been reduced from stock with nothing on the mirror. Very nice, even with the rougher Z51 suspension (no F55). Of course, railroad tracks still give a little shake.
Detector stays very steady in mount, no movement during acceleration or hard braking. Slides in and out in seconds with no issue. Mount itself is unnoticeable when detector is removed, unless you know what you are looking for. Slide a sunshade up in the windshield and it is hidden.
I have mine mounted very flush with the mirror. Mirror is still fully moveable with out the mount moving. Also, map lights fully functional with detector in place. I would recommend using a invisicord or hide your cord in the A-pillar, as the curly cord hanging down will be a problem.
The construction is solid metal, strong. Mike includes everything for installation, with great instructions. Even you have question, feel free to contact Mike or even drop me a line. I have had the thing up and down so many times, I can do it in my sleep.
Good luck with sales Mike!! You won't go wrong with this mount.

Thanks for posting up the install. I've purchased a few items from vendors here on the forum that the install instructions really leave a lot to be desired. Like I said before, the unit looks like it is put together really well. Looks like I might have to order one of these so I can remove the detector from the passenger area and reclaim the passenger visor again.
Cheers
