DIY Center Cap Emblem for Aftermarket Wheels
[July 2013 Update] I appreciate the complements I frequently receive via PM on the center caps, but:
- I sold the Vette almost a year ago.
- I do not have the time or the interest to make these for people. Please do not PM me asking.
I've been very happy with my TSW Nurburgring wheels that I bought in June, but decided I wanted to customize the center caps. Here's the thread with my original pics when I got the wheels. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...post1574372267
I couldn't find anything online that would work or anywhere locally that could make what I wanted, so I decided to do it myself.
Here's a before pic.
I started with a circle of Avery carbon fiber look vinyl.
Added some C6 flag decals.
Then I bought some two part epoxy resin to "dome" the decals.
The decals need to be perfectly level so that the resin gets distributed evenly. I made feet out of detailing clay for my little table.
Resin mixed and ready to be applied to decals.
Resin applied to beginning to cover the decals. The resin flows out until it stops right at the edge of the decal.
Covered to keep dust off while drying for 24 hours.
Fished product. I didn't trust just the regular adhesive on the Avery vinyl, so I added some heavy duty 3M double sided adhesive.
New center cap emblems applied.
This was definitely a fun little project. Next, I am going to try to dome some rear bumper letters that I had cut out of a custom color vinyl.
And yes, I am going to finally break down and lower the car soon.

Wow, you've done a really excellent job. In fact, I might just do that to my stock wheels. It looks ten times better than OEM.
One thing that drives me crazy, though, is that you haven't aligned them properly in relation to the lug nuts.
