dead bug in headlight
I was washing my Vette and found a dead bug hanging out inside the headlight assembly. Is there any way to get it out on my own or do I need to take the whole thing apart and re-seal it? Thanks for the help guys.....

Seems like someone on the forum taped a tube to their vacuum and sucked a spider out through the headlight mount hole. Can't find the post, but that should work.

I have lived with 1/2 a dozen dead ants in mine from day one from the dealer. I have forgotten about it till the bug threads come up. My dealership is not in to much rush to do anything about it so the condition remains.
If you figure out a way to remove them easily let me know.
PS the air hose thing just moved them around a bit.

Possible fix
This photo is proof that these assemblies are not sealed - rag on the end of a wire. Really tough to move it around..........
But...... If you put a wire into the assembly with a small piece of double sided tape around the end of the wire, you should be able to get it out - although the bug may brake up on the way out.

Not likely if you blend the wire and the tape by bending the wire - didn't want to get into all the nuances cause I kinda figured that might be just how everyone would do it????

just find an open stretch of highway and floor it! That's how he got in there.
I've had a mosquito stuck near my turn signal for about 3 months. Any time I go down the interstate, he gets sucked back a little farther. I figure that by Christmas, he should be gone.

There is about zero room to get into the inside of the assembly - in order to get the wire inside, I had navigate/bend it around the polished/chrome lamp shroud. A real PITA.

We have a dead bug inside one of our lights as well. I only notice it when detailing the car. I know removing the body will be a PITA so I have just sort of ignored it. No else had noticed it.

As you can see inside the light assembly it's a gauntlet. Anything other than using some compressed air and/or vacuum IMHO I think your asking for trouble.
Although taking the lights apart is a PITA it's really about the only consistent solution.

Oh I totally agree and even though I have replaced a couple of hundred lens I too would like to find and pass on a simpler solution to a common dilemma.
I've had 2 spiders in my lights. The first one I shot some air thru the back of the light through the inside wheel well and blew him somewhere into the housing.
The second spider is still there. He's vibrated to in-between the front of the bezel and lens. As he decomposes more he may drop on down to parts unknown.
I had recommended the air to a fellow owner and he reported back that although it moved the problem it blew a lot more crap up onto the bezel for all to see. He got tired of looking at it and sent me his light to have it cleaned out.
Maybe with the housings posted someone may have a light bulb moment and come up with something.
