Well...if you have an extra 17,500 USD lying around collecting dust, I guess you can skip the robbing the bank part. Gotta admit it looks awesome, but that is what they are charging as part of their C6RS upgrade package (BTW: the seats are included at this price).

Actually it looks like they DO sell the seats alone. $6k is a big chunk for seats. Would definitely want to try them somewhere before plopping down 6 large.

If these were added "by GM" I wouldn't expect them to be installed at the factory. It would have to be some type of offroad use only dealer accessory, which I think is a great idea.
As stated by several people here, the car would have to be crash tested and validated with these seats, which is very expensive to sell a few hundred up level seats.
The next opportunity for a big change is C6.5M which needs validation for the complete vehicle anyways.
I work at GM in seats and am a vette owner/enthusiast so I have a "pretty good" idea what is happening with the production seats but not everything (particularly aftermarket sales stuff).

Yes, I'm extremely aware of this as I've been in Recaro's plant where they build these awesome seats. They were crash tested with the development of the car and always planned as a factory option.
They also have a very low take rate, as the cost is "too high" for the avg buyer it seems.

I know most anyone would agree that recaros are better but have a hard time justifying the cost. On most cars for more money you get more options but on a seat upgrade you do get a better seat but to most poeople a seat is a seat.

Six thousand for a pair WITH Gerardo-quality leather, side air bags and that work with the 2LT/3LT power seat rails would be a serious mod indeed.

GM is notorious with its "add-ons". You can easily tack on $15k-$20k in options on a C6. Getting better seats would be worth it to most C6 buyers. That is one of the biggest gripes that C6 drivers & car reviewers have, the seats.

Does it mean I'll be able to go to my local Chevy dealer (sometime soon?) and order a Caravaggio Daytona seat?
And will I have to ship my seat to you first?
Please continue to post more details as they become available. Thanks.
