'10 Grand Sport... Zero Brake Dust....
Yes... another "Brake Dust" thread!
I finally got fed up with cleaning the front wheels, tires, wheel wells, and lower body panels every 50 miles on my '10 Grand Sport.
Yes, I'm a detailer. Yes, I'm obsessive, compulsive and ****. There. I've said it.
Changed the brake pads from stock to Hawk Z-Series Performance Ceramics (20 PADLETS per set front/rear)...
WELL.
I drove 122 miles today and all 4 wheels look as clean as if I had just washed the car.
No more BROWN wheels, BROWN tires, BROWN dust on the splash guards and body panels.
I am now, officially a happy guy.
EASY installation.
With the padlets, you don't have to remove the caliper. Just remove the 4 "torx" bolts/pins. (torx 46) and pull the old pads out with channel lock pliers. Compress the piston with the handle end of the channel lock pliers. Push the new pads into place. Re-install the 4 torx bolts (pins). Done.
Very simple, even for a non-mechanic. Actually kind of a fun job.
Repeat... ZERO VISIBLE DUST. I didn't notice any difference in braking performance. I don't track... street and highway driving only.
Worth every penny of the price for the Hawks.
AAAA++++
A few (crappy) cell phone pics.

I will say this: Every GS I've seen in person, and spoken to the owner has said..... YES... the brake dust has been brutal.
Surprisingly the dust seems to show up more and stick more to the comp gray wheels than it does the chrome. (The chromies are slicker, therefore the dust doesn't want to stick!)
You getting chrome? May not be an issue for you!

Not to hijack, but I changed my OEM pads to Delco ceramics from Gene Culley last week.
I'd estimate about 80-90% less dust and no change in performance on my C6.
I was cleaning the wheels after even short drives before..........

Got the Hawk pads Friday, gonna' change them out today. Even though the AAWP works well, the dust just clumps up together in the wheels. Thanks for the info Bill.

Went to hawk' web site. Not sure which pads you purchased, can't find anything at the price you mentioned. Can you provide more info on pad name and part # and where purchased. Thanks
