Seatbelt Warning and Automatic Seat Problems
PROBLEM 1 - Even tho I buckle my seatbelt, I still get 2 or 3 blasting
bell warnings with the warning light first starting when I get one mile
down the road. Then about 10 minutes later another bell blast and
seatbelt warning light. Often there is a 3rd warning. After that, usually
no more.
PROBLEM 2 - My auto seat works erratically. Sometimes when I start
up it goes to my selected spot and sometime not. And, sometimes
when I go to get out, it automatically goes clear back, as I have it set,
and sometimes not.
I’ve talked to 3 different dealer service reps. They say (mainly) that
they’ve never heard of these problems and even if they run it thru the
“tester” there’s no guarantee it will find the problem .. since it’s erratic.
One of the chevy dealers I talked to would have had me replacing
about everything but the engine to be sure they guessed the right
problem.
Please help me out. Surly there’s someone who’s had - or heard of -
my problems.
And, by the way, I’m very hard of hearing .. yet that warning bell just
about blasts me out of my car! I hate it! The light is fine. Can anyone
give me any secret advice as to how to turn it down .. or off?
Thanks a lot.

For problem 2, sometimes-
Be sure you are using the same fob each time, or that both fobs have the same memory settings. Otherwise, you'll get different results for different fobs.
Good Luck!

Thanks Jim but I've been the only driver since new in ’06 and have always used fob one. And, by the way, I did put a new battery in recently.

Both problems sound like a loose connector or damaged wire. Together they say loose connector. BTW, the seat not moving is a relatively common problem and is a connector problem.

Thanks guys!!
Under the seat wiring and connector check sounds like an EXCELLENT idea! I'll go to
dealer Mon. morning and get that done!!
Do dealer service reps have a “grand service puba” who they can call and ask “what is
the ‘likely‘ cause“ of such & such problem? Surly I'm not the only person in the entire
world with the false seat belt warning problem. My personal guess is the buckle, but it
would be nice to not have to keep buying parts until I hit bingo.

I agree with Foremaw and Al, it all sounds like it could be caused by the connectors and wires under the seat...especially if you move the seat fore and aft often.

The wires referred to above need to be checked to see if they are being pinched/crimped.
To change the Chime volume from loud to louder or vice-versa, press and hold pushbutton #6 on the Radio/CD Player with the ignition on and the Radio off.
'Loud' or 'Normal' will appear on the Radio's Display and you will hear 3 beeps to confirm.
Repeat the process to change it back.
Sorry, I don't know what the procedure is if you have the OEM NAV.

It's a very easy uninstall for the seat to check it out! Takes about 10 mins (well it takes me 10 cause I've done it 20 times>. But it's very easy cause all you need is a screw driver and a 15mm socket. Once the seat is out you can really check the plug under there and see what's going on... I did a thread on removing the seat and also wiring issue I had with the side air bag wiring.... First thing you want to check is the plug on the SIDE of the seat.. not under it! That's for your seat belt tensor and buckle up light....
