Default Disable emergency button on fob?

I am getting pretty irritated at the stupid red trumpet button on the fob. When in my pocket (most of the time), I seem to bump it at the most inopportune times. The more I think about it, I can't conceive of practical use of it. People are so used to car alarms going off, they pretty much ignore them.
I haven't given it much thought, but I bet other people on this forum have. Off the top of my head, can I open the fob and put a piece of paper or something to block the contacts on the red button?
I guess if I took it to my dealer he could do something, but I am in SC for the summer and my dealer is in Florida.

I took mine apart and on the back of the buttons are little metal round disks peel off the one for the emergency button and close back up the Fob. It is the 2nd to bottom one, there is no Button on the bottom contactor, I believe it is because they use the same fob base for the cadillac as well as others and they have another button on theirs.
1 min job
I upgraded my fob to the 08 style, you don't say what year yours is, not sure if the earlier fob was built same way.

I stopped this by buying a FOB "jacket" on e-bay for my '08 FOB:

http://www.thejacketstore.com/servle...tte/Categories

Never had a problem since. I believe the jacket gives enough of a recess on the buttons to avoid accidentally setting it off. $6.99 you can't go wrong.

I use a Tic Tac case as suggested by another forum member, it works great. It has a sliding door you can open and close as needed and is not bulky:

I like it, this appears to be a great solution and should help to protect the black finish on the FOB itself.

Thanks for the heads up..............

Never had the issue. Instead of removing the disk, put a piece of tape on it to insulate it. Then, should you ever want to re-enable the function, you can.

Had this problem with the fob from my Trans Am. Opened it up, and put a small square of black electrical tape over the contact assigned to the horn button. Reassembled it. Never had the problem since. Of course, this disables the button completely, which may or may not be something you want to do.

It was a great find, funny how little ideas come to you sometimes.

Bingo....just a small piece of scotch tape will do it and make it reversible also.

OK. Open fob surgery complete, patient back at home (in my pocket). I went ahead and used the black tape method, because there is a slim chance that I would want to put it back to stock. In the same way, there is a slim chance that Michael Anthony, on behalf of John Beresford Tipton, will present me with a $1 million check! Now, if you understand the reference, you are probably an old geezer like me.

If that happened to me the first thing I'd want to do is take Topper out to dinner accompanied by Boston Blackie and The Shadow
