Disconnecting Negative Battery Cable
This probably sounds dumb, but after you get the nut off the post, how do you get the apparatus around the negative post to release. I was in a parade today, and I reveved the rpm's too high once and lost my cruise control. Happened last year and disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few seconds solved the problem. A friend did it for me last year. Thanks.

Before you remove the negative cable, look at it as it attaches to the post, or look at the positive post to see how the cable is attached. Reason is that too many people over tighten the cable and could possibly cause damage and also affect the electrical system. The proper torque for a C6 battery is 71 inch pounds.

Got It Off
Thanks for all the help guys.
Now, does anyone have any idea why reving up the engine in neutral would cause the cruise to stop working? Second time this has happened. Removing the negative cable again fixed the problem. I think it might be exceeding programmed rpm levels limits.

I'm thinking that reving the engine in neutral high enough to cause problems is not being kind to your car.
OTOH, someone once posted that the C6 has a second rev limiter that won't allow you to rev past something like 4,000 rpm in neutral. If you rev high enough to engage that, perhaps it messes up the cruise control.
No personal experience here!
