Get this, out of State - no. out of country ticket no tag
While headed from Ontario Canada to Rhode Island I was pulled over by a NY State trooper. Speeding, no way, had the cruise set at 70 in a 65. Why then? No front tag. He explained that it is troublesome for the tool booths on I-90, so I asked, what about the Canadians from Quebec or other states that do not require front tags. he replied, in Ontario you have to have one, (I have a retactable and it was down). so you need to display it here.
I have two choices, appear in court in Mohawk NY or plead guilty.
Does anyone know the fine in NY for this?
The real issue I have with this, I was in the wrong, is that the trooper spent 15 minutes with me while speeders zoomed by this afternoon, maybe I save you a ticket. If I did, you can donate to my cause at www...........

Do you have the remote control for the front license plate? I would of just flipped it up as soon as he pulled you over and tell him he better take a closer look because your front plate is there.
You were speeding also if you were doing 70 in a 65 that is 5 over the speed limit.
I would plead guilty to the front plate and just pay the fine. You admitted you were guilty and you don't have much of a argument.

What happens if you don't pay? I don't think you would be extradited for a traffic violation.
Of course you better not get pulled over again in NY.

What a waste of $ pulling a guy over for this. I'm sure they could find something more productive to do with their time than pulling a guy over for no plate.....especially one of our Canadian neighbors.
OP-I'd get it taken care of....never know when you will be in NY again and this can come back to haunt you.

OP, sorry you got stuck on something so trivial. Not very neighborly.
My gripe on this is that a proper front tag mounting was not incorporated into the design of the car. The C6 is the only generation with this flaw. Every other generation has a proper front mounting incorporated, and they are generally more nicely integrated with the vehicle than you see on most other makes of cars.

It's $50 in Chicago for no front plate.
These donations (of which I've made 6) to the city should be tax deductible.
It's the responsibility of a thinking populace to disobey unjust or non-sensible laws. Then righteously pay the price for disobedience.
Doubt it's very much $$$ to plead guilty and take the moral high-ground.

Pure and simple.
I just got tagged for this myself. I passed a sherrif deputy and he could have cared less about me not having a front plate. 20 seconds later I passed a State Trooper.... bam, up my azz about a front plate. $116.25 here in the State where nothing is allowed.

I live in NY. However, I don't think you should pay. Cars registered in NY need a front plate. There are plenty of states that don't. If you're guilty then you're telling me it's illegal to drive through NY in a car from another state that doesn't require a front plate? I don't think so.

That sucks, but much better than a speeding ticket.
No points on your license and no raise to your insurance premium.
Good luck at the show, maybe I'll run into you there.
