It's a shame and fortunate he didn't go-off on the other side of the road (where dozens of spectators were standing around). With cars parked alongside the road (race course?) and people milling around it makes me wonder if this was even part of the race course. Either the Z06 driver was racing where he shouldn't have been or the organizers have an inherently dangerous situation going-on. I run on road courses and you just don't have people lurking along the race course or cars stopped just off the track without a caution flag or safety car. I don't know anything about this race but if that particular area was part of the race course that's insane.
I know stuff happens racing but I wonder just how amateur the Z06 driver was....how experienced was he. Is this an event where anybody with a car and a heartbeat can race? I run with amateur racers all the time but the events are well organized with safety a primary concern. In the more advanced levels and time trials group the drivers are amateur but experienced and talented. Watching that video brings all kinds of questions to mind...glad no one was killed.

Z06 driver was lucky it was not worse. If he gets off with losing his license and the insurance company not paying the bills he should consider himself lucky. Another example of the driver finding out what his limits are the hard way.

Unbelievable. Very fortunate that no one was hurt or killed. I know that if I were one of those spectators, I would be rethinking being that "up close and personal" to future road courses, tracks, etc.

This car belonged to someone named Bruce in NY?

Whatever the case, I am glad everyone is OK. The insurance company for this production is going to pull out after this....I'd bet money on it.
