I try to seek out nicer cars to park next to as well.
Nicest car that I came back and found next to mine was a Ferrari Challenge Stradale.

Had a gorgeous modded red C5 coupe park next to my (also red) C4 coupe at work. Love it when I walk out to my car and see other nice cars around it.

I leave my vert parked with the top down all the time. In fact, I rarely ever have the top up, so when it's parked, it has the top down.
BTW - I have never "invited trouble."
