Thought i'd share my Cabin filter with you (pic)
So I've been getting a little musk smell in the car. So I did some reading here on the forum and figured its definitely my cabin filter. So I went to Advanced Auto Parts and ordered the Purolator filter part # C25623.
It was about $12 after tax, and now i'm waiting for my $5 rebate from Purolator.
This has to be the smartest think I've ever put on my car, lol. The air in the cabin is now crisp and clean smelling.
thank you CF members for the research.
Here is my comparison picture, This is after I pulled the 3 leafs off the top of it.

Same thing happened to me when I replaced mine. I read all the posts about the filter and decided it was time as I have a used 2005. When I removed it I almost fell over. My filter looked as bad as yours.
Pretty good $7 mod after rebate, huh?

I did the same.. mine was just as bad, now when you get in my car it smells like "Paris Hilton" was in there putting on her make up..
Not only that , but I picked up .13 in my 1/4 mile ET, and it ran 2 mph faster than my previous best..
Great item to check on at least 1 time a yr. !

I just went out and looked at mine.
I am the farthest thing from being a mechanic and I had it out, tapped it on the ground to get anything loose out of it (it looked pretty good but then again my car is about 15 months old) and back in the car in under two minutes.

That is amazing that the filter actually works! That is very impressive. We sell the charcoal impregnated filters and the inexpensive filters if you're interested.

Tikiman,
No, the really, really gross stuff are all the little microbial creepy, crawling spore critters and bacteria that you been breathing into your lungs and mouth and nose. Those things can be dangerous, like histoplasmosis and cryptococcosis and who knows what else. Yuk! Just think of those filthy guys getting into your lungs and stomach and eyeballs.
lol and what you cant see is all the raw dirt/sand or whatever that is sitting between the ribs.
SO GROSS
SO GROSS
