C06 or C05 Z06 Help can’t make my mind up.
I have 4 cars i am looking at a 3 C05 Z06 one Blue Silver and one red all low miles, $21,000 to 24,000 and a 2007 Z51 Orange LS3 with Navi M6 around 45,000 miles and $29,500. What do you think makes more sense and better car?
Think I will bite the bullet in the morning as i have missed my C5 after selling it two weeks ago so help me decide. Thanks in Advance

Paying cash or financing??????? You will find most banks send car interest rates skyward after 7 yrs..thus a loan on a 2003 will cost you.......
That 2007 is an LS2 6.0 ltr........NOT an LS3. Miles too high on the 07. You can find BASE 1LT no-option 2010 coupes right now for $39,999 (with 3k rebate)..........
03/04 Z totally different car then a C6- what do you want the car for?

Didn't like the condition of most ZO6's and for the money went to C-6. The ZO6s I saw needed brakes, rotors, tires and probably fluid changes - I figured newer was better.

well seeing how you are posting the C6 section, the answer would be C6
All kidding aside, if you are looking for a more refined ride, with usable trunk space then the C6 is definitely your answer.

I just bought a 07 with 40K for $30K which was below KBB wholesale and damn near trade-in value. 3LT, Z51, 6MT.
I was also considering a C5-Z. I had a 04 Z06 that I bought new, so I knew those cars well. The C6 is a better over-all car for sure. Consider the 07 is a 3 year old car but the 03 Z is 7 years old right now. Even if miles are similar or even less on the Z06, the C6 is the better way to go IMHO. Much improved ride with less bump steer and much less tendency for the car to step out sideways when cornering hard over broken pavement. Much improved chassis stiffness and generally more composed in all situations. Better seats. Better HVAC. Nicer features such as dual zone auto climate control and improved radio at least if you get the 3LT which I highly recommend. Z51 brakes are better and it also has a trans cooler in addition to the oil cooler, so if anything I think the C6-Z51 would be a better track car. Performance is basically identical. Steering in the C6 gives more feedback at least in the Z51 version of the car. Oh, the targa removable top is pretty nice unless you already have a ragtop car.
Anyway - I strongly recommend going with a 06-09 with Z51, 6MT and 3LT. Good luck with the search they are much harder to find than a C5-Z06. I'd say less than 10% had Z51 / 6MT from the cars I was looking at - maybe closer to 5%.

If I was financially restricted to an early C6 vs. a later model C5 Z, I would go with the C6 UNLESS, the C5 was the 2004 Z06 with the Z16 option. That is one cool Corvette, and you won't see yourself going and coming. Not many made. Best looking C5 I've seen (next to my 02 light pewter )
Seriously, there are some great C5's out there. All of us C6 owners owe it to the C5 for what we have. But if the dollars allow the C6, I'd move that direction.
Good luck!

A lot of people on here will also tell you the 08 is a much better car, blah blah blah - more power, better steering, yadda yadda. I drove several of both and did not notice any difference in the steering or the shifting. Yes - the LS3 car pulls a bit harder especially up above 5K rpm. But below that it isn't any different to me and how often do you really have the car over 5K rpm anyway? In my view, 400hp in a 3200lb sports car is plenty fast enough - hell, the 05-07 Z51 cars will run mid 12's at 115-ish in the 1/4mi. It isn't too critical to me to have a car that will run 2-3 tenths and 2-3mph faster - I mean, sure, I'd take it for free, but it isn't worth $4K+ which is the premium you will pay for a 08 vs. an 07 most likely - if you can even find a Z51 / 3LT car in the color you want.

If you like the orange, I would jump on that 07. I think it is priced right. Maybe you can knock off $500-1000, but even $29,500 is more than fair for the car with all those options if it is in excellent shape and the color combo that you really want. Because what are you going to hold out for the perfect deal that you might save another $1-2K on? You may never find the car you are looking for. Z51, 3LT, 6MT are just not that plentiful.

I think I am down to two now, you will all probably think I am mad but one is 2,300 miles from where I live and the other is just over 3,000 miles is this a record? But nice time of year for a road trip which I will enjoy.
Well the Z06 that really gets my intention is a blue non moded 2003 50 anniversary 38,000 miles which I can pick up for $23,000
Or this 2007 Orange C06 LS3 Z51 with NAVI for 29.500 both in really good condition

Burning Brakes
I've owned a C5 Z06 and now I have a 2005 C6 coupe (base model). The Z06 is a more intense car in a high performance way. I think my Z06 was a tighter car, it never squeaked or rattled and the non runflat tires are better tires.
To me the big difference is the open top. With the top stowed on the C6 you feel just like you're in a convertible - you don't see any of the halo bar in your peripheral vision. I enjoy my C6 in two completely different ways; with the top off and driving easy, just enjoying the scenery, and second driving hard with the top up or down. The C5 Z06 is better at the hard driving side of the equation but I couldn't live without a convertible car.

Have you actually driven the two types of cars? I would think a seat of the pants drive would tell the tale.
IMO opinion, the C6 experience will prevail. Then it's a matter of finding the right car at the right price - - good luck!
