The Corvette Wave
Hello All
I have noticed many more vettes out since it is warmer. Also, I have noticed many of our corvette friend stiffing the wave!
What is up with that?
I am out im my 68 or 09 and I give the Corvette wave and these people just pass by, no wave or nod, nothiing.
I thought that this was BAD Corvette owner behavior?
Thoughts?
Ed

I can only talk about here in So. Calif. This past Sat. I thought my arm would fall off it got so tired from waving. I waved (and got the wave back) to C6's, C5's, C4's and one C3. It was just SO great. Sorry about what happened to you. Don't give up just yet.

The DD's often don't wave (week days) but on sunny weekends everyone seems to.
All you can do is your share. Keep at it.

Yeah but you're the exception to the rule.
You live in Hawaii so you undoubtedly are always driving around with a big smile on your face and you're waving to cute mainlanders driving rentals.
I rented a C4 convertible for a week on Maui in the early 90's. Most fun I ever had on vacation. Hana Hiway was too much fun.
I envy you. Shake that Shaka.

So many local vette owners have their windows tinted. That prohibits a lot of waves.
I did let my 22 year old niece drive my 06 C6 in Nashville this past Saturday, by herself for the first time, but I forgot to tell her about the wave. She saw one vette and got a wave from the driver, but didn't know she was supposed to return it.
She also got a from a guy on a motorcycle.

I will wave every chance I get. If they return the wave great. If they don't? Oh well!! I just keep waving.

I don't wave just to get a return wave. I am not nice and polite to people who work in stores just so they will be nice to me in return. It's just the right thing to do...a side benefit is that most people will wave or be nice in return, but even if not, it's still the right thing to do.

I live in WI, and it seems like if it is a Blvd type street with a 10-15 ft median between the opposing lanes, then the owners don't wave. I try to do it on freeways or whenever, but sometimes I am distracted about concentrating on the driving itself. I keep trying though.

The tinted window thing has gotten me, except I'm the one waving, however if it's not on a two-lane where your doing the almost head-on thing nobody sees I'm waving. Bought is car sight unseen, and the windows were down when I picked it up, so I didn’t realize the windows were so dark. Pulled up beside my wife while she was driving the C6 and I was in the C5…and wow you can’t see in the C6 at all. I wave and nobody can even see. I’m pretty sure that has too go and make way for something about half as dark or even less. Anyway I’m waving.

Living in "Snottsdale, AZ" cars like or equal to the Corvette are a dime a dozen. However, I'm proud of Scottsdale Corvette owners. I receive a wave around 75% of the time, regardless of generation.
As for the other 25%, I cut some of them slack. Didn't notice, busy with traffic, etc. Some just don't know, or care.

Here on LI I wave, and often get waves back, but have to admit I miss some while keeping an eye on the traffic. Weekend traffic on "the big dead end" is really bad in the summer.

Bottom line on The Wave: You can't control what other people do - but you can control what YOU do.
Wave on.
Wave on.
