Greetings jpee,

This (using a scanner ) is a really an easy DIY operation. The C-5 made it easier with a built in DIC (Driver Information Ceneter...and then look up the codes.

With the C-6, ya gotta buy a sanner and then look up the codes.

Amazon sells a good one, an "INNOVA 3100"for about $80 bucks.

So get the scanner, plug it in, read the codes (if any) and save money.

Regards,

Duffy

They don't think that way. Some dealership's business moto is 'A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush....so soak'em while they are here'.

Get together with some of your buddies and buy an ODB-II diagnostic reader. Works with allmost all cars. Now you can diagnose ands even reset issues that are not a real problem. Problem solved...

Which tax is higher? The Corvette tax or the Cadillac tax?

I pay less for oil changes, etc. etc. now than I did with the dealership I used in TX. I paid nearly a $100 a pop for oil changes there which I got reduced by $40 by providing my own oil and oil filter. Now, I only pay the $40 and don't have to buy my own oil and oil filter.

I second that notion, that's what I did before I got my Diablosport Predator. Only had to do it once and it was my gas cap was on too loosely. Probably saved me $100 or more charge at the dealer.

I just had mine in at the shop last week because I got the check engine light. $120 for the diagnostic check (code P0442 evap leak) had to replace the gas cap. Total = $146.86

Maybe its unrelated but my wife's 07 mustang started leaking into the interior like crazy at a car wash.
I looked it up and there is a TSB on it. The local ford dealer said they want 150 to fix it.
I told them there is a TSB and that they can charge it to Ford and they said they cant.
I'm calling the dealer I bought it from today.
I think with this economy the dealerships are trying to get double paid for work.
