People seem to be concerned with drilling holes. I'm concerned with water leaking by the bolts. Is there a gasket or is silicone sealer recommended?

The holes are in the open area behind the trunk. So if any water gets in there, it'll go straight to the ground. It will never make it inside your Corvette.
