Default Learned something about the GS tonight

I was at a local dealer tonight with a buddy looking at a new Red GS, 6 speed manual, 4-LT vert . I originally was under the impression that all GS manual transmission cars had the dry sump Z-52. Wrong! To my surprise the Z-52 is only available on the manual coupe. I honestly did not realize that. Who Knew!

After about three hours of crunching numbers and contemplating my buddy wrote the check and drove that Red vert home.

That information is in the order book and some of the GM literature.

My strong suspicion is that the primary value of the dry sump system in a LS3 C6 , GS or base, is bragging rights that you have something that's "the same as in the Z06".

More complexity and more weight=dry sump system.

... and it's not a true dry sump system.

Anyhoo, for those of us contemplating swapping LS7's or LS9's into a GS, it's somewhat important to have in a GS for compatibility reasons.

Other than that, unnecesssary.

At least he's consistent. I used to think he just had it in for the GS, but I saw a thread in the Z06 section where he was hating on the Z06 basically saying it's not a true big block 427. He's just a ray of sunshine everywhere he goes.
