Default Take it easy on me

Had a lot of replies to 55 and 1st vet. Glad to see I wasn't the on'y one that got 1st late in life.

Now here is the question remember I am a newbee so take it easy on me.

I getting ready to pull the trigger soon now I'm may be a little confused thought I knew what I wanted. This will be the only one I get so I want to get it right.

What are the exact differences and all between grans sport ans the coupe.

Thanks Chuck

the new grand sport, inspired by the iconic racing sting rays of the 1960s,
is designed to be an attainable track and street car that features racing-developed technology.
available in coupe and convertible, the grand sport includes a wider track,
aggressive dampers and springs, larger stabilizer bars, performance gear ratios,
and additional cooling. in addition, goodyear® eagle® f1 supercar tires
are tucked inside flared fenders. a wider front fascia and front splitter,
a high rear spoiler, and five-spoke grand sport wheels underline its purposeful look.
racing technology also extends to the brakes, including six-piston front calipers
surrounding thick, cross-drilled rotors. manual transmission coupes come standard
with the z52 performance package that includes a dry-sump oil system. this helps
prevent oil starvation on high-g corners and under heavy braking.

LOL... The GS has a "widebody" i.e. flared/ more aggressive looking body very similar to a Z06/ ZR1... The difference is of course less HP(430-436). Its(unlike the Z06/ZR1) available as a "coupe" with removable targa top or as a convertible... I think by "coupe" you're may be referring to the standard "narrow" body C6, also available with a removable targa top or fold down convertible... What I like to call a C6 "Classic."

Don't say "This will be the only one." You never know. I thought my C5 was going to be the last one. So, here I am, going to be 72 and driving a 2010 Torch red GS Vert.
In my opinion, the GS is much better looking then the coupe. I love the wide body and the gills and all the other subtle things. I never got a Z06 , as I'm a top down kind of guy. The GS fills the bill.
Good Luck with which ever one you pick

GRAN SPORT..........................REGULAR COUPE
Wider wheels..........................narrower wheels
Wider tires.............................narrow er tires
bigger brakes..........................smaller brakes
wider body..............................narrow er body
10.5 QT dry sump.(stick)...........5.5QT (stick)
A little stiffer...........................a little "looser"

They BOTH GET:
The same engine (powerwise)
the same warranty
the same transmissions
the same steering gear
the same differentials (I think)
the same color choices
the same trim levels

If you're planning on putting your car on the road course, then you'll want the GS. If you are just cruising around, then the regular coupe will work fine.
The cost of the bigger brakes for maintanance is quite a bit more.
The cost of the larger tires is certainly more also.

And don't forget the $7,000.00 price difference.
And the oil change that costs nearly twice as much for the GS.

This car is not a small expense. You should get yourself familiarized with the types of corvettes available and the various options and packages before you go to the dealer. Think about how you plan to drive it and what you want out of it.
Is it a cruiser? A track car? A daily driver?
If you tread this forum, you will find a lot of info, but your research should come from a lot of other sources as well. Get a brochure, look at the Chevy web site etc, etc.
