Default Gas Pedal problem

I was driving downtown Houston yesterday when all of a sudden the check engine light came on and message center said low engine power and traction problems.
I took it to Davis chevrolet by Reliant stadium and was told it was a sensor in the gas pedal. They replaced the gas pedal and it runs better than ever. Anyone else have this issue?

Is there actually a sensor in the gas pedal? Just wondering, as I'm about to replacement (today) OEM gas pedal on my 08 C6 with billet pedal. Anyone know for sure?

you're just installing the foot piece, not the whole pedal. yes there's a sensor and a molex type connector where the wiring hooks up to the pedal.

So the sensor is in the pedal mount not in the foot piece. Thanks for the info.

There is an "Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor". It is the source of a problem that comes up regularly but not often. Here's a prior thread for anyone interested:

Yes! Just ask Toyota. They have lots of "recent" experience with this sensor.

So that was the final answer to the problem? Sure took long enough to solve, and you think that would have been the first thing they checked.

We had OP's problem on our 2006, replacing the gas pedal only fixed it for a month.

Short version:
there was something wrong in the car's wiring, took 3 tries to find/fix it, long discussions between dealer tech and GM. Thank God for GMPP, $0 deductible.

Hey Andrew,

I am glad that you got this all taken care of and quickly!

Dago,

I am concerned that you are not up and running and your dealership states they cannot help! Please pm me with your name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage and the name of your dealership. I want to get your District Specialist involved. Do they have an idea of what the concern is? Have they changed any parts out? I look forward to your reply,

Kelly J.
