Form trumping function exponentially.

Your comment ' no need for that much tire', is ill informed, as that kit utilizes stock Z06 wheels with a 345/25 tire, also using crazy 3 1/2" spacers to kick the wheels out to fill the wells.
SSVette makes the kit.

.......photos snipped........
OMG 3 1/2" spacers....

Or , would there be a problem because the front tires are still at the stock width ? Any road racers care to educate this Corvette lover ?
You essentially nailed it. I'm no expert but I think this setup would be detrimental. There are many factors that can come into play but there needs to be an optimal relationship with how the front and rear tires line-up. With this setup the rear tires are pushed out significantly further than the front tires. IMO there's way too much of an 'imbalance.'

Don't you think the Corvette Racing C6.R's would look more like this if it helped?

I'm not a huge fan of the flared look anyway, but this wide widebody looks like 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. Awful!

I have a little different analogy. Since we all know that Corvettes are "she", not "he", this is a car with excessively large silicone implants.

Sometimes more really is too much.

3.5 inch spacers = ridiculous.

That's the funny part....that modification generally does NOT result in a wider rear tires...Spacers simply move the tire outward...it's just for show...in fact, with the added load on the wheel bearings Id say it is anything but a performance move

SSVette makes the kit.
I wouldn't necessarily say that. If I were going to go that wide it would be solely to run wider tires. The kit can "utilize" anything that will fit under there!

There are some benefits to really wide tires, namely a more sticky rubber composition.

To each his own, but I just can't see how it improves what was an awesome car to begin with.
Reminds me of this silly automotive trend that seems to be everywhere....

Better be upgrading your axles, transaxle, clutch, etc if you really need that much more tire

To coin a phrase commonly attributed to Big Daddy Don Garlits referring to HP:

If some is GOOD, and MORE is BETTER, than TOO MUCH is just RIGHT.

Guess TOO MUCH is TOO MUCH.

Looks good to me...

Its cool if you simply don't like the look, but I find it very hypocritical that any one who drives a 400-500 HP, 180+ MPH street car would ridicule someone else about what *they* think is "excessive" or "unneeded" on the other person's street car.

Glass houses...
