My on star plan is about to expired and I was wonder if it was worth the renewal or how much I should expect it to cost.

I just renewed mine after the free three month trial. The first person would only give me the $199/year rate so I asked to speak to someone about a better plan. Was forwarded to a second person who offered a $148 renewal which I agreed to.

I got the same deal $148.00 for a year, but the great thing is, when the car is hibernating for the winter, the service can be suspended, and it doesn't eat up the time. I renewed in October 2009, and the 1 year subscription counting my suspension time will be valid until Feb 2011. Can't beat that service

I hope you were talking about XM radio and not OnStar because you can not get that good of deal from OnStar ever.

I think you have your XM service mixed up with Onstar.

Last week I renewed my On Star for 148 and some change for a year. I had to ask for the discounted rate.

BTW, if you have any left over phone minutes, try to renew before your plan expires. I let mine expire last year and I had to talk to 2 or 3 reps before I was able to get the left over phone minutes rolled over. If you renew before it is expired, your left over minutes will roll over automatically.

Good tip, I didn't need any more minutes but I saw the OnStar had a deal for 100 minutes and bought them, meaning I'm able to roll all the unused minutes over when I renew our OnStar this fall, then sometime next year I'll keep watch for another 100 minute special.

I only use the OnStar when driving so it's not like we use a ton, about 20 per month.

We don't gab that much in the car, we save that for home.

I just renewed the OnStar on my 2009 Vert and got the $148 deal from the first guy I talked with; only problem was listening to the sales pitch for the upgrades while my renewal was "processed" (they must have SLOW computers ). I also got my phone minutes rolled over for free - after listening to all the "deals" for adding minutes. All in all, it was just a bit more annoying than "do you want fries with that?" but I didn't have to talk to anyone's "supervisor"......
Enjoy,

Default OnStar/Verizon

I bought an 08 vert in December that has OnStar but, I don't currently subscribe. I've heard that I can subscribe to the minimum OnStar service for around $10.00 per month and get my Verizon cell number to ring in the car for another $6.00 or $7.00 per month.

Anyone know if any of this is accurate?

Thanks

Les

I pay zero. It's a total waste of money. My new 2010 Ford Taurus (needed a drive anywhere car) has all the features of Onstar and doesn't cost a penny !
