Cross Country in a Callaway Grand Sport SC606: Day by Day pics from the road...

I thought I would share some pics from the road... Starting the day at 5:00 AM, I boarded a flight from the east coast, and landed in sunny LGB, CA

With my colleague, Franc, picking me up from the airport in our company Callaway Camaro SC572, we went to our west-coast shop in Corona, CA to retrieve the Callaway Grand Sport SC606.

The odometer was a couple hundred miles shy of 21,000 miles. By the time I get back east, the GS SC606 will have close to 26,000 miles

I stopped for the night in Las Vegas and will be heading to Salt Lake City for Wednesday. If you happen to be in the area of Larry Miller Chevrolet on Wed. night (around 6:30 PM), please drop by and check out the car

From Utah, I'll head to Colorado. Stay tuned...

21,000 miles?

Any issues? I imaging you've gone through a few sets of tires, but how's everything else holding up? Any warranty work?

The car is an early VIN Grand Sport. One of the first few dozen cars for 2010.

Taking it over from Engineering, I began to put miles on the car the third week of Sept. and have not looked back.

No issues, whatsoever, No warranty work, everything is holding up fine.

We just put 40 of our dealers in the car two weeks ago at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch ( www.racespringmountain.com ) after spending several days at the facility.

Around 14k mi, we changed the tires to Michelin ZP tires. better dry traction, MUCH better wet traction, snow traction is about the same as the Goodyears...

I'll keep posting back with pictures each day - Enjoy!

What a day!

Leaving Las Vegas, I pointed the car north on I-15, headed for Utah

It was in the upper 70s in LV however, by the time the car reached 6,500 ft in the Utah Mountains, it was in the low 40s and snow was still on the side of the road

I grabbed a few pics from the road today however, I was not quick enough to take any pics of the Hwy patrol w/ the Toyota-driving cowboy (was it unintended acceleration?) - or the three Utah Highway Patrolmen detaining the lady in the miniskirt on the shoulder down the road...

Pretty uneventful drive. About 400 miles today. In SLC for the night

At 6:30 PM tomorrow, I'll be at the CCU Meeting to showcase our Callaway SC606. See you there

Before leaving the region, I had to grab lunch at In and Out Burger

Most interesting vehicle today was a van w/ 15 little people stickers on the back. I checked for more down the side...

Wrapped up the day w/ dinner - great view from the table!

Ed, next trip, we'll take your Callaway - they do look about the same

Seriously, I've never driven a vehicle that has generated such excitement as this one! At dinner, everyone leaving the place had to walk around 3 or 4 laps to check it out

I can't wait to see this car next weekend at Wilson Niblett Chris! (I signed up for the tech session a long time ago but just got a card in the mail today that mentioned that you would be there too)

Hopefully our weather is still as nice next week as it is right now! (it's currently sunny and 64 degrees in Toronto, much higher than normal for this time of year!)

Chris,
Glad you made it up here. I wish I could have made it down to SLC but work took up my time. Be careful tomorrow as it is supposed to be wet.

Dave, Thanks! There were over 100 people at the CCU Meeting tonight. Great audience and at least one Callaway Corvette owner in attendance

Car was very well received. Here's some pics

32 hp in a traction-limited environment is down to a driver's race. Statistically insignificant between the two cars for straight line performance.

We recently equipped our demo car with our Callaway/Eibach suspension and Michelin tires. I'd wager - and so would many who drove the car over the past few weeks, that it would eclipse the handling numbers of the ZR1 in this configuration.
Both are great cars - Callaway SC606 GS gives a similar, wide-body look, in a convertible, targa, or automatic trans option. You cannot get that w/ the ZR1 (or Z06)
