What do all those symbols in the HUD mean ???
Sorry GM, but I don't speak "Monopoly gamepiece"
So my question to you guys is this,
On the HUD (in track mode)
There is a small bar graph to the right side that has the availability to have a single gauge displayed.
Problem is,
There are only little symbols of teapots and thermometers etc.
Which are which?
It would be nice to have the oil pressure showing, but which one is it?
Which one is the,
Water temp?
Tranny temp?
Thanks for the help!

Why did I say that, because most people are too lazy to read the book.
That is crazy because of all the money that car cost.

Here's what the owner's manual says.
That says you can switch what's being displayed by pressing the PAGE button on the HUD controls.
As noted in another post, above, if you've selected oil temp. or oil pressure, you'll see a pot icon. Not sure what the icon is for tranny oil temp. Coolant temp has no icon, I don't think.
Look at the HUD display and compare the reading with the gauge on your instrument panel to see what icon gets displayed with what temperature or pressure.
Within each mode, the display, can be further
customized by pressing the PAGE button. Pressing this
button in each mode will turn off and on the following:
• Track Modes 1 and 2 — No minor gage, coolant
temperature, transmission oil temperature, engine
oil temperature and engine oil pressure.

Except it does no good if you don't know what gauge you are looking at.
I think the one with the thermometer stuck in the waves is the Water temp icon.
The rest are pretty obsure.
The pot is presumably an oil kettle, so it must be for oil. But is it oil temp? Or is it oil pressure?
And what the h is the little star one? Is that a gear? If so, does this mean it represents the Transmission fluid temp?
Or is it the Oil Pressure gauge?
See what I mean?
Still no firm answers.
Anyone?

Teapot with thermometer is Oil Temp, other Teapot is Oil Press. Gear with thermometer is Trans Temp. Last one is the coolant temp. I believe that is the 4 I cycle through on the HUD.

While in track mode, the display choices are as follows:
No minor gage.
coolant temperature.
transmission oil temperature (automatic transmission only).
engine oil temperature.
engine oil pressure.
No minor gage is obvious it is just a tach and your speed display.
Coolant temperature is the thermometer with waves under it.
Oil pressure is the small "tea pot" looking thing.
Oil temperature is the small "tea pot" with the thermometer sticking out of the top.
Auto transmission.
The transmission oil temperature is a what looks like a starburst (gear)with a thermometer sticking out of it.
Here are photos of the manual transmission HUD symbols in Track Mode 2. In Track Mode 1 they are the same symbols just at the top next to the round tach as opposed to at the bottom with the linear tach.

I know it was a pretty simple one, but it is nice to know for sure.

On the track I display OIL PRESSURE in the HUD (it goes up and down with RPM's so I'm surprised folks couldn't figure that out) and I monitor OIL TEMP in the DIC.
Why is that important? My first time on a BIG track like Road America in Wis I found my oil temps were approaching 300 degrees and that was with the Z51 package. Talking to a few non Z51 guys their temps were even higher and one guy got the HIGH OIL TEMP warning (315 degrees).
But my instructor showed me what I was doing wrong (frequently in a lower gear than needed) and not allowing the engine to cool on the LONG stratights by going into 5th gear. Once I did that my oil temps never exceeded 265 degrees.

Here's a picture of that symbol page from the 2006 owner's manual. Click the thumbnail to enlarge.

There is no "tea pot", it's an oil can.

While in Track Mode 1 or 2, the maximum G value
achieved during the current ignition cycle can be
displayed by pressing and holding the PAGE button.
The maximum G display will be shown until the
PAGE button is released. The maximum G value
display will be identical to the normal G value
display, except the maximum G gage digits (X.XX G)
and corresponding G gage bar will overwrite the
current G value.
